2-Day Budget Kruger NP Safari from Johannesburg

Johannesburg to Hazyview & Afternoon Game Drive

You depart Johannesburg in the morning and travel via the N12 and N4 highways on a scenic drive of about 4.5 hours to Kruger National Park. A comfort stop is made in Middelburg, allowing time to stretch your legs and enjoy a quick coffee.

On arrival at Hazyview, you check in at the Protea Hotel or a similar 3- or 4-star lodge. The check-in process takes around 30 minutes before you continue with the day’s activities.

In the afternoon, you head into Kruger National Park for a 4-hour open-vehicle safari drive, entering through either Phabeni Gate or Paul Kruger Gate. After park entry and conservation fees are settled, you explore the park in search of wildlife, including elephants, lions and leopards. The safari may be shared or private, depending on group size.

Lunch is enjoyed at the Cattle Baron restaurant in Skukuza Camp, overlooking the Sabie River. After the game drive, you return to Hazyview for dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.

Sunrise Game Drive & Return to Johannesburg

You rise before dawn and head back into Kruger National Park for a 4.5-hour sunrise game drive. This is one of the best times to spot big cats as they finish their nighttime activity, while hyenas return to their dens. You also have the chance to enjoy the African sunrise and observe wildlife at its most active.

After the safari, you depart Hazyview around 11:00am and travel back to Johannesburg, arriving at approximately 4:00pm.

Drop-off is available at your accommodation or at OR Tambo International Airport.
