Arusha to Momela Gate

Upon arrival, you will be picked up from your hotel or airport and driven to Arusha National Park. You will continue to Momella Gate, where you will complete park registration and meet your mountain crew.

You'll begin your trek through the beautiful montane forest, accompanied by spectacular scenery and opportunities to spot wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, and various bird species. The trail gradually ascends through lush vegetation toward Miriakamba Hut.

After approximately 4–5 hours of trekking, you wil arrive at Miriakamba Hut, where you will enjoy dinner and relax while preparing for the next day’s climb.

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

After breakfast, you begin your trek from Miriakamba Hut toward Saddle Hut, following the scenic trail through the montane forest. The route gradually becomes steeper as you ascend toward higher elevations, with beautiful views of Meru Crater and the surrounding landscapes.

You continue through the moorland zone, where the vegetation becomes more open and the scenery increasingly dramatic. Along the way, your guide will share information about the mountain’s unique flora, fauna, and volcanic history.

After approximately 3–5 hours of trekking, you'll arrive at Saddle Hut (3,570 m / 11,713 ft). After lunch and some rest, you take an optional short acclimatization hike toward Little Meru (3,820 m) before returning to Saddle Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.

Saddle Hut– Summit Attempt to Miriakamba Hut

You'll wake before dawn for the summit attempt to Socialist Peak (4,566 m / 14,980 ft), the highest point of Mount Meru. You begin the ascent in the early morning, trekking along a steep and rocky ridge toward the summit.

As the sun rises, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the dramatic Meru crater, weather permitting. After reaching Socialist Peak and celebrating your achievement, you begin the descent back to Saddle Hut for breakfast and a short rest.

You continue descending through the scenic mountain forest toward Miriakamba Hut, where you will enjoy dinner and relax after this challenging and rewarding day.

Miriakamba Hut to Momela Gate to Arusha

After breakfast, you begin your final descent from Miriakamba Hut toward Momella Gate. You'll enjoy the beautiful scenery as you descend through the lush montane forest, with opportunities to spot wildlife and bird species along the way.

Upon reaching Momella Gate, you complete the park formalities and receive your Mount Meru summit certificate to celebrate your achievement. Take a moment to thank your mountain crew before saying goodbye.

Your vehicle will then meet you at the gate and transfer you back to Arusha, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or airport, marking the end of your memorable 4-day Mount Meru Trek with Eretoto Adventures.
