Arusha to momela gate

After breakfast in Arusha, you’ll be transferred to Momela Gate in Arusha National Park, where your climb begins As you ascend through lush montane forest, keep your eyes open for giraffes, buffalos, colobus monkeys, and a variety of birds along the trail. The hike today is steady and scenic, leading you to Miriakamba Hut (2,500m) where you'll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay. The day’s trek takes about 5–6 hours.

Miriakamba hut to saddle hut

After breakfast, you will start ascending the steep trail along the ridge of the saddle. You may see various wildlife along the way! The trail has views of Mount Meru Crater and the Ash Tray. When you arrive at camp, you have the option of hiking Little Mount Meru (3820m) with your guide to further acclimatize. You will be served an early dinner, so you can receive ample rest before your midnight summit attempt. Get to sleep by 7:00 pm!

Saddle hut–summit attempt to miriakamba hut

Your summit day begins around 11:30pm with a steep hike through rocky terrain, reaching Rhino Point and then Cobra Point, where the sunrise over Kilimanjaro is truly breathtaking. After several hours, you’ll reach the summit of Socialist Peak (4,566m) — the reward for your hard work and determination. Take in the sweeping views of the crater and surrounding landscape before descending back to Saddle Hut for a short break and meal. You’ll then continue down to Miriakamba Hut.

Miriakamba hut to momela gate to Arusha

Today after breakfast, you will start again the hike down to Momella Gate. An early rise walk will grant you an amazing wildlife view on your hike down, while animals are more active.
