3-Day Mikumi by Sgr Train Start & End in Zanzibar

Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Zanzibar early in the morning and transferred to the ferry terminal for your crossing to Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival, you’ll continue your journey to Mikumi National Park via Morogoro.

You’ll arrive in the afternoon and proceed with a game drive in the park, searching for elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos in the pools, buffaloes, zebras, elands, and other wildlife.

Later, you’ll head to your lodge or Mikumi Park Bandas/Cottages for dinner and an overnight stay. Sleeping inside the park allows for extended game drives until sunset, though you may also choose accommodation outside the park if preferred.

Mikumi National Park

After an early breakfast, you’ll head out for a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park. You can expect to explore different areas of the park, including open plains and water sources where wildlife is often concentrated.

Throughout the day, you’ll have excellent chances to spot elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, hippos, and a variety of bird species. A picnic lunch will be served inside the park, allowing you to relax and enjoy the surroundings before continuing with afternoon game viewing.

In the late afternoon, you’ll return to your lodge or park accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Mikumi National Park to Zanzibar

After breakfast, you may choose to visit a nearby Maasai village for a cultural experience, where you’ll learn about traditional Maasai customs, lifestyle, and daily activities.

Alternatively, you can begin your return journey in the morning, driving to Morogoro to board the SGR train to Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival, you’ll transfer to the ferry terminal for your boat ride back to Zanzibar, marking the end of your safari adventure.
