Day two begins early with a hearty breakfast before heading to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. After being assigned to a gorilla family group, you’ll embark on an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience through the lush bamboo forests and misty slopes of the Virunga Mountains. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 5 hours depending on the gorillas’ location, but every step is rewarded when you finally encounter a family of endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Spend a magical hour observing their behavior—watching mothers care for their young, juveniles play, and silverbacks assert their dominance. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that connects you deeply with nature. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Your final day begins with an early breakfast before heading back to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for the golden monkey trek. The trek is generally shorter and less strenuous than gorilla trekking, taking you through beautiful bamboo forests. Once you locate the troop, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing them as they leap through the trees and forage on the forest floor. After the experience, return to your lodge to freshen up and check out. Then begin your scenic drive back to Kigali, passing through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside.
