Day 1
The tour begins with a 1.5- to 2-hour drive in a private car. The morning is dedicated to exploring Bagamoyo's past, starting at the Bagamoyo Museum, which covers the town's history from the slave trade to the German colonial era. You will then visit the Old Fort, a site that once served as a prison and slave-holding area.
After a local Swahili lunch, the afternoon continues with more historical sites. You will see the ruins of the German Boma, a reminder of the town's time as the German colonial headquarters. The tour then moves to the poignant Old Slave Market Site, followed by a visit to the First Roman Catholic Church in East Africa and its mission, which played a key role in the efforts to end the slave trade.
