This vibrant city sits at the base of Mount Meru and acts as the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the lodge, enjoy a swim, or explore local attractions such as the Maasai Market or Cultural Heritage Centre. After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, a gem known for its massive baobab trees and the highest population of elephants in northern Tanzania. Spend the day on game drives across the park’s varied landscape grasslands, riverine forests, and seasonal swamps. You’ll spot elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, and even elusive leopards if lucky. A picnic lunch is served at a scenic viewpoint near the Tarangire River. In the afternoon, continue with game viewing en route to Karatu, a picturesque town nestled in the highlands. Enjoy a half-day game drive and possibly spot endangered black rhinos, hippos, buffalos, and a high concentration of predators. Picnic lunch is served at the Hippo Pool. Afterward, ascend and drive to your lodge at the crater rim or in Karatu for a well-earned rest.
