Antananarivo

Departure in the morning to visit Tsarasaotra reseve. Located in the heart of the island, Tsarasaotra park is open to all nature enthusiasts. It is a privately owned park belonging to a visionary family. The park is designated as a Ramsar site, making it the only privately owned park in the world to hold this status. It's freshwater bird's part of the site consists of a lake. Birdwatchers can admire herons and numerous species of wild ducks here, 64 total bird species are regular freshwater inhabitants. Antananarivo - Antsirabe

Drive to Antsirabe through mountains, hills and rice fields. Along the way, you will see many funeral graves, some simple ; others elaborate on what plays an important role in the local population and their fascination with the afterlife. Arrive in Antsirabe after 4 hours of driving : the thermal, "the city of water" as it is called, has become a very important economic city, famous for its fresh products and its mineral water, commonly called "visy Gasy". The city is also known for its many rickshaws and its precious and semi-precious stones. Overninght.

Antsirabe - Ranomafana

Breakfast then city tour of Antsirabe. You will visit by pousse-pousse the local manufacturer. Drive to Ambositra the capital of Malagasy crafts. Visit of various shops then continuation to Ranomafana national Park. Arrive in Ranomafana in the end of the afternoon. Installation at hotel before wildlife night walks. You might be spotted brown mouse lemur, very similar mantilla frogs and painted mantilla and M. Baroni and also the smallest chameleons. Overninght.

Ranomafana - Sahambavy

Breakfast at hotel and drive to Ranomafana national park parking to meet your local guide. Walk towards the rainforest. Ranomafana protected mountain rainforest covers an area of 41,600ha at altitudes between 600m and 1,400m (1,970-4,600ft). The steep slopes are covered with a mixture of primary and secondary forest, much of the secondary growth is dominated by dense stands of inteoduced Chinese guava (Psidium cattleyanum) and clumps of giant bamboo. You might be spotting some species of lemurs (golden bamboo Lemur).
Continue to Sahambavy after visit and lunch. A must-visit stop on your itinerary ideally situated halfway between northern and southern the island, Lac Hotel enjoys a prime location on the shores of lake Sahambavy. Nestled at the foot of hill and it offers a stunning view of the island only tea plantation (spanning 520ha). Visitors can also explore the surrounding area and discover the unique charm of the Betsileo people. Overninght.

Sahambavy - Ranohira

Long drive leads the south descending to the southern part. In Ambalavao there is an interesting hand craft paper factory that is worth a visit. It takes about ten minutes to see the different processes at work and there is a small gift shop where you can purchase some of the products. Visit to the reserve of the Villager of Anja where you can easily see the ring-tailled lemur. The second part of the trip passes through Ihosy to the wide grassy plains of Ihorombe and towards Ranohira village. The scenery begins to change as you cross door to the south. Enter the attractive countryside of the Betsileo people where granite outcrops dominate the horizon. Here the architecture of the village is also starting to change from the one story African style house to two story buildings in the central highlands where people are more like those in southeast Asia. Breakfast then drive to the village of Ranohira to choose your local guide. A day dedicated to trekking and discovering the park, made up of a ruin-shaped massif dating from Jurassic, discovery of the most beautiful landscape in Madagascar. Nosy be - Antananarivo

A visit to the Lokobe reserve in Nosy be combines a traditional dugout canoe trip through the mangroves. Approx. 3hours. You will see the black lemur (Eulemur macaco). Lokobe national park where the rainforest meets the ocean and Malagasy endemism is on display along every trail. Lokobe plays a crucial ecological role for the island, harboring numerous strictly endemic species (flora and fauna).
