Karatu to Ndutu – Following the Great Migration

Today’s journey takes you from the green hills of Karatu into the heart of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, crossing through the forested crater highlands before descending into the open plains of Ndutu, a seasonal wildlife-rich region in the southern Serengeti ecosystem.

Between December and April, the Ndutu area becomes the epicenter of the Great Migration, where hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles gather to give birth to their young. The landscape is alive with movement and drama as predators—especially lions and cheetahs—take advantage of the seasonal abundance.

You will enjoy a full day of game driving, pausing to observe calving wildebeest, stalking big cats, and the sheer scale of the migration. Your guide will navigate based on recent wildlife sightings to offer the best experience. After an adventurous day, head to your bush camp nestled in the wild for a night under the stars, listening to the sounds of the African savannah.
