Flight to Gondar – Drive to Simien Mountains & Trek to Sankaber

After a morning flight to Gondar, drive via Debark to Simien Mountains National Park. Begin your trek from Chennek viewpoint to Sankaber Camp (approx. 4 hrs). Along the way, spot Gelada baboons and endemic bird species.
Overnight camping at Sankaber (3,250m).

Trek Sankaber – Gich via Jinbar Waterfall

Trek for approximately 6 hours along the dramatic escarpments of the Simien Mountains, crossing the Jinbar River and visiting the breathtaking Jinbar Waterfall. Continue through stunning Afro-Alpine scenery to reach Gich Camp, then take a short evening hike to Kedadit viewpoint for an unforgettable sunset over the highlands. Overnight camping at Gich Camp (3,600m).

Excursion to Mount Imet Gogo & Seha Valley

Begin the day with a rewarding hike to the summit of Imet Gogo (3,926m), one of the most iconic viewpoints of the Simien Mountains, offering sweeping 360° vistas of jagged peaks and deep valleys. Continue your trek to the picturesque Seha Valley for a scenic picnic lunch. In the late afternoon, return to Gich Camp and take a short sunset walk to Kedadit viewpoint, where the golden light paints the escarpments in breathtaking colors. Overnight camping at Gich Camp (3,600m).

Trek Gich – Chenek via Mount Inatye (4070 m/absl)

Enjoy a full day of trekking, covering 7–8 hours across the breathtaking Afro-Alpine landscapes of the Simien Mountains. The highlight of the day is the ascent of Mount Inatye (4,070m), where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views over dramatic escarpments, rugged cliffs, and vast valleys. After soaking in the scenery, descend gradually to Chenek Camp, surrounded by stunning mountain panoramas and known for wildlife encounters. Overnight camping at Chenek (3,620m).

Trek Chenek – Ambiko (Base of Ras Dejen)

Today is one of the most challenging yet rewarding trekking days, covering around 9 hours on foot. The trail takes you over the high Buahit Pass (4,200m), offering breathtaking vistas of the rugged Simien escarpments. From there, descend gradually through deep valleys and highland plateaus until reaching Ambiko Village (3,300m), located at the base of Ras Dejen. Keep your eyes open for wildlife encounters, including the endemic Walia Ibex and, with luck, the elusive Ethiopian Wolf. Overnight camping at Ambiko.

Summit Ras Dejen (4, 543m)

Begin the day before dawn for a challenging 10-hour round-trip trek to the summit of Ras Dejen (4,543m), the highest peak in Ethiopia. As you ascend, experience the crisp mountain air and dramatic Afro-Alpine landscapes. Reach the summit in time to witness a spectacular sunrise illuminating the jagged peaks and deep valleys of the Simien Mountains. After taking in the panoramic views and celebrating your achievement, descend carefully back to Ambiko Camp for rest and an evening under the stars. Overnight camping at Ambiko.

Trek Ambiko – Chenek – Drive to Gondar – Flight to Addis Ababa
