Day 1

Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, you will begin your journey with a full day exploration of Ethiopia’s vibrant capital. Start at the National Museum, where the world famous fossil Lucy is housed, along with centuries old artifacts and tribal art. Continue to the majestic Holy Trinity Cathedral, a masterpiece of Ethiopian Orthodox architecture and the burial site of Emperor Haile Selassie.
Ascend to Mount Entoto, the historical seat of power before Addis was founded. From here, enjoy panoramic views of the city and explore Emperor Menelik II’s palace and museum.
After lunch, drive to the hustle and bustle of Merkato, one of the largest open air markets in Africa. It's a sensory overload of colors, spices, textiles, and everyday Ethiopian life.
End the day with a traditional Ethiopian dinner at a cultural restaurant, complete with live music and regional dance performances.

After breakfast, drive to Lalibela, often called the “New Jerusalem” and one of the world’s most remarkable religious sites.
Begin your visit with the Northern Cluster of rock-hewn churches, carved entirely from solid volcanic rock in the 12th century. These monolithic churches, still active today, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and spiritual center for Ethiopian Orthodox Christians.
Explore Bete Medhane Alem, the world’s largest monolithic church, and Bete Maryam, known for its beautifully painted interior. End the day at the iconic Bete Giyorgis (St. George’s Church), shaped like a cross and dramatically set in a trench below ground level. Overnight stay Mountain View Hotel.

Bete Gabriel-Rufael, thought to have been a royal palace before it was converted into a church.

Drive to Semera, the gateway to the Danakil Depression one of the hottest and most geologically active places on Earth.
Begin your journey with a drive into the arid landscapes of the Danakil Depression, passing volcanic fields, camel caravans, and Afar nomadic communities. This region lies below sea level and features otherworldly terrain shaped by tectonic activity.
En route, stop at Afar settlements to learn about their tough, salt-extracting way of life. You’ll see traditional tools used to carve salt blocks and load them onto camels, a trade that’s been practiced here for centuries.
Overnight in basic camping.

Start early to visit Dallol, one of the lowest points on Earth ( 130 meters below sea level). Here you will witness a surreal landscape of vibrant yellow, green, and orange mineral pools, Formed by acidic hot springs and sulfur deposits.
Walk across the salt flats where camel caravans still carry blocks of salt as they did centuries ago. Visit Lake Assale, a shallow salt lake with crystal-clear reflections, Surrounded by crusty salt formations. The contrast between the blinding white salt and deep blue sky is breathtaking.

Day 6

Back to Semera and Drive to Addis Ababa

Back to Semera and Drive to Addis Ababa

You'll drive back to Semera and later drive back to Addis Ababa. Early in the morning, you'll have another chance to see the stunning sunrise at the volcano. After the visit, you will return to the base camp for breakfast. After breakfast, you'll start your journey back to Semera. You'll arrive in Semera for a late lunch, followed by a drop-off at the airport back to Addis Ababa.
