Day 1

Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

Your safari begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Arusha. After a briefing from your guide, you'll drive westward towards the Great Rift Valley. The journey takes about 2 hours. You'll see the landscape change from city to countryside, with views of maize and coffee plantations.
Arrive at Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. This compact park is incredibly diverse. Its main feature is the shallow, alkaline lake that attracts thousands of flamingos and other waterbirds. The park is famously known for its tree-climbing lions (a rare behavior), and the ground water forest at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment is home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. You may also see elephants, giraffes, hippos, and a variety of antelope.
Exit the park and drive a short distance to your lodge or camp located on the outskirts of the park or in the nearby town of Karatu. This area is known for its lush, highland scenery.

After an early breakfast, you'll drive towards the iconic Serengeti. The journey is an adventure in itself. You'll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and stop at the Ngorongoro Crater Viewpoint for your first breathtaking look into the caldera—a truly unforgettable sight.
Descend the other side of the crater highlands and enter the Serengeti National Park via the Naabi Hill Gate. You'll complete park formalities and enjoy lunch at a picnic site. Your game drive begins immediately as you venture into the vast, endless plains of the Serengeti. The name itself means "endless plains" in the Maasai language, and you will quickly see why. You will look for wildlife all afternoon—herds of wildebeest, zebra, Cape buffalo, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and

This is the grand finale. You will descend over 600 meters (2000 feet) into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a spectacular morning game drive. The crater is a natural enclosure, creating a unique ecosystem with one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa. It is one of the best places in Tanzania to see the "Big Five" (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard) in a single day. The endangered black rhino is a particularly special sighting here.
Enjoy a unique picnic lunch at the Hippo Pool, where you can stretch your legs alongside the hippos and birds.
After an unforgettable morning, you will ascend the crater wall and begin your journey back to Arusha. You will be dropped off at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in the late afternoon/early evening.
