Gondar – Simien Mountains – Sankaber Camp

Begin your adventure with a morning drive from Gondar northward toward Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its dramatic escarpments, deep valleys, and unique wildlife. After passing through Debark to register and collect your park permits, continue into the heart of the highlands. Arriving at Sankaber, embark on your first light hike along the escarpment’s edge, soaking in panoramic views of the Simien range. Watch for Gelada baboons grazing the cliffs, elusive Walia ibex navigating rocky slopes, and a variety of endemic birds, setting the stage for an unforgettable trekking experience.

Sankaber to Geech Camp Full-Day Trekking

After breakfast, trek from Sankaber to Geech Camp along ridgelines and high-altitude meadows, passing the stunning Jinbar Waterfall and wildlife like Gelada monkeys and lammergeyers. Arrive at Geech in the late afternoon. Tonight, stay in mid-range camping accommodations with spacious tents (3x3m+), comfortable beds, private veranda, and en suite bathroom with toilet, shower, and sink. Our professional staff handles all camp chores, while guests may assist lightly with daypacks, tent setup, or meals. Relax and enjoy the crisp mountain air and breathtaking views.

Imet Gogo Viewpoint and Return to Gondar

Wake up early for a rewarding hike to Imet Gogo, one of the most iconic viewpoints in the Simien Mountains. At over 3,900 meters, this vantage point offers 360-degree views of jagged cliffs, deep canyons, and wide plateaus stretching across the northern Ethiopian highlands. After enjoying the stunning scenery and taking photos, return to Geech for a brief rest and begin your descent back to the trailhead. Drive back to Gondar in the late afternoon, where your 3-day Simien Mountains trekking adventure concludes.
