Day 1

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park

We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 am and head to one of Tanzania’s most special national parks. Tarangire National Park is renowned for its diverse landscapes, featuring nine distinct vegetation zones. The park is particularly famous for its ancient baobab trees, some of the largest on the continent, which tower over the wildlife around them.

The Tarangire River attracts an incredible variety of animals, including lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and elephants—the park has the highest concentration of elephants in the country, offering unique opportunities to observe their social interactions.

Lunch is served at a scenic picnic area with an observatory overlooking the river, where you may even witness a hunt while enjoying your meal. In the afternoon, the game drive continues before we transfer you to your accommodation for the night.

Although relatively small (205 sq miles), the park is renowned for its breathtaking scenery, lush acacia forests, giant fig and mahogany trees, and a growing population of baboons and blue monkeys. Giraffes, elephants, impalas, and large herds of buffalo are permanent residents, while the lake itself is home to numerous hippos.

The landscapes of Lake Manyara are truly unforgettable. Game drives along the lakeshore offer stunning photo opportunities, with giraffes and buffalo in the foreground and the lake, often dotted with flamingos, in the background. Optional activities during the day include a bike tour or a boat excursion. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to your camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, depart for the world-famous Serengeti National Park. En route, drive through the Ngorongoro Highlands and make a quick stop at the crater rim for an unforgettable view of the Ngorongoro Crater—a truly breathtaking experience for first-time visitors.

As you continue into the Serengeti, you will understand why its name means “endless plains” in Swahili. Covering 6,900 sq miles, the vast plains stretch to the horizon, creating a stunning sense of scale. The park is home to the Great Migration, with over two million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and countless antelopes, including impalas and Thomson’s gazelles. Predators are abundant as well, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Many iconic wildlife scenes, such as the famous river crossings, have been filmed here.

After the game drive, return to the camp for a hearty brunch before proceeding to the Ngorongoro Crater, often called the 8th Wonder of the Natural World.

The crater spans 102 sq miles and is surrounded by 2,000-foot-high walls, creating a natural sanctuary that hosts nearly every species of wildlife found in East Africa. It is one of the few places on the continent where you may spot the rare black rhino. The crater features a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a large concentration of flamingos, a forest, and open plains. It is also renowned for its magnificent elephants, some of the largest in the world with impressive tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a natural wonder not to be missed.
