After pickup from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, you’ll drive to Londorossi Gate (2,100m) for registration before continuing to the Lemosho trailhead. The trek begins through lush rainforest with the chance to see monkeys and birdlife, ending the day at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,780m) after 3–4 hours of hiking.

Day 2
Big Tree Camp (Mti Mkubwa) – Shira 2 Camp

From Big Tree (Mti Mkubwa) Camp, the trail leaves the rainforest and enters the vast moorland zone. The hike takes you across rolling hills with sweeping views, offering your first glimpse of the Shira Plateau’s dramatic landscapes. After 5–6 hours of trekking, you arrive at Shira 2 Camp (3850 meters) to rest under the open skies.

Day 3
Shira 2 Camp - Lava Tower - Barranco Camp

This day offers vital acclimatization as you cross the Shira Plateau and climb steadily to Lava Tower (4,600m), where you stop for lunch. From here, you descend into the Barranco Valley, enjoying the contrast of high-altitude desert and lush scenery, before camping at Barranco Camp (3,950m). Hiking time is about 7–8 hours.

Day 4
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

The morning begins with a climb up the famous Barranco Wall, a non-technical but adventurous scramble offering breathtaking views. The route continues through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp (4,050m) for lunch, then heads upward to Barafu Camp (4,680m), where you prepare for your midnight summit attempt. The trek takes 7–8 hours.

Day 5
Summit Day – Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

Around midnight, you begin the final ascent up steep slopes to Stella Point (5,739m), and then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After enjoying the sunrise and photos at the summit, you descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down through rocky and forested terrain to Mweka Camp (3,100m). Total hiking time is 11–14 hours.

Day 6
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Hotel Drop-off

On the final morning, you descend steadily through the rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640m), where you receive your summit certificates. Your driver will transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure. The descent takes 3–4 hours.
