Your safari begins with a warm welcome from Nextgen Safaris upon arrival in Entebbe or pickup from your hotel in Kampala. You then set off on a scenic drive to Lake Mburo National Park, passing through Uganda’s rolling countryside and pastoral landscapes with a stop at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe. On entering the park, a relaxed game drive introduces you to the resident wildlife, with good chances of seeing zebras, impalas, buffalo, warthogs, and abundant birdlife. You continue to Kigarama Wilderness Lodge, where you check in, unwind, and enjoy dinner in a peaceful natural setting.

After an early breakfast, your professional guide from Nextgen Safaris takes you out for a morning game drive, the best time to observe wildlife activity. Lake Mburo is famous for its open savannah dotted with acacia trees and is the only park in Uganda where zebras coexist with impalas. After returning to the lodge for lunch and a short rest, you head out in the afternoon for a boat safari on Lake Mburo. This gentle cruise offers close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, and a rich variety of water birds, before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Following breakfast, you depart Lake Mburo and journey southwest toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive is scenic and culturally rich, taking you through local villages, farmlands, and tea plantations as the terrain rises toward the forested highlands. You arrive at Bweza Gorilla Lodge in the afternoon, where you check in and spend the remainder of the day at leisure, relaxing and preparing for the highlight of your safari.

The day starts early with breakfast before transferring to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Accompanied by expert trackers, you begin your guided gorilla trek through the dense rainforest of Bwindi. The trek can take several hours depending on the movement of the gorillas, but the reward is extraordinary. Once a habituated gorilla family is located, you spend an unforgettable hour observing their behavior at close range. After the trek, you return to the lodge for lunch and a relaxed afternoon, with optional community interactions arranged by Nextgen Safaris.
