Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve
Leave Nairobi after breakfast and proceed to Samburu. Heading north, you’ll pass near Thika and continue through some breathtaking scenery dotted with rushing mountain streams and fields of tea and coffee. After Nanyuki town, you’ll continue north, eventually reaching a dusty outpost known as Isiolo, the last major stop on the journey into the remote Northern Frontier district. From here, it’s a fairly short hop to Samburu.
Arrive at the camp on time for check–in and lunch. In the late afternoon, depart for your first game drive, returning to the camp as the sun sets. Dinner and overnight are at Samburu Sopa Lodge.

Samburu to Aberdare NP
After breakfast, travel south, crossing the equator to The Aberdare Country Club, nestled on the slopes of Mweiga Hill. After lunch and high tea, set off for Naro moru River Lodge, located in the forest on mountain slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at 7,000 feet. This outstanding lodge offers high-altitude game viewing, including animals rarely encountered elsewhere; giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, and the elusive bongo. Wildlife can be observed from different levels; from outside, you can see, hear and smell everything, and from inside, you can sit with a cup of tea and stay warm and cozy.
You can request to be awakened at night if your favourite animals show up. A herd of elephants might be just feet away, and if you are lucky, a leopard or large male lion might appear.

You’ll arrive at the flamingo-fringed Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch and check-in. In the afternoon, we will embark on a comprehensive game drive of this scenic park, including visits to viewpoints which offer superb photo opportunities. Lake Nakuru is one of several Rift Valley lakes. Its ecosystem supports a wide ecological diversity, with flamingos (greater and lesser) and other waterbirds being the major attractions of the area. Naivasha is yet another area popular for birdwatching (over 400 species). There are no crocodiles in the lake, as the water is too cold for them due to the altitude, but there are several hippos.
An optional boat ride can be organized at an extra cost. You will also visit Crescent Island, which can be described as a garden, an animal sanctuary or simply a little paradise. If you enjoy photography, then you will be overwhelmed by the beauty that Crescent Island holds. From small to big animals and birds, the sunset hits the water’s surface and the lush green vegetation that covers the space. Most of the animals here are herbivores, such as giraffes, zebras, impalas and hippos.
