Day 2
Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp

Leaving the forest behind, the trail opens up to the Shira Plateau with breathtaking views of Mount Meru. The landscape changes into heather and moorland, offering a true wilderness feel.

Day 3
Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp

A gentle trek across the plateau takes you deeper into the Shira region, where you acclimatize and explore volcanic features. You enjoy wide-open views of Kibo Peak and surrounding valleys.

Day 4
Shira 2 to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

Today is all about acclimatization. You ascend to Lava Tower at 4,630m for lunch, then descend into the Barranco Valley. The dramatic landscapes include giant lobelias and Senecio trees.

Day 5
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

The morning begins with the thrilling ascent of the Barranco Wall, a steep but rewarding scramble offering incredible views from the top. The route continues over rolling terrain, with ups and downs across valleys, before reaching Karanga Camp at 4,035 meters after 4 to 5 hours. This camp serves as another important acclimatization stop.

Day 6
Karanga camp to Barafu camp

A short but steep climb takes you to Barafu Camp at 4,640 meters, the base camp for your summit attempt. The hike takes about 4 hours, leaving the afternoon free to rest, hydrate, and prepare. The rocky, exposed campsite is where climbers from all over the world gather in anticipation of the summit push.

Day 7
Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

The most demanding day begins around midnight with a slow climb up scree slopes toward Stella Point at 5,739 meters. As dawn breaks, you continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime achievement, you descend back to Barafu for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp at 3100 meters for a well-deserved night’s sleep after 12 to 14 hours of trekking.

Day 8

Your final trek leads you back through lush rainforest for 3 to 4 hours until you reach Mweka Gate at 1,640 meters. Here you receive your summit certificate, marking the completion of your Kilimanjaro adventure. A transfer takes you back to Moshi, where a hot shower, warm meal, and comfortable bed await.

Day 9
Depature
Depature
After completing your 8-day Lemosho Route trek, you will be transferred from Mweka Gate back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for rest and refreshment. On your departure day, we will arrange a comfortable transfer from your hotel to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or to Arusha, depending on your travel plans. This transfer is already included in your package price, ensuring a smooth and worry-free end to your adventure.
