Day 1

Fly in from Zanzibar to Arusha, Adventire to Materuni Waterfalls

Fly in from Zanzibar to Arusha, Adventire to Materuni Waterfalls

Your African adventure commences bright and early with a morning pickup at your Zanzibar hotel. A comfortable transfer will take you to Zanzibar Airport for your flight to Arusha. Upon landing, you’ll be greeted by your expert guide and embark on a scenic drive to Materuni.

You will visit the waterfalls which are a walk. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga. The views are truly breathtaking, and with some luck, you will see the summit of Kilimanjaro. When you reach the waterfalls, you will see that they are more than 80 meters high.

After having enjoyed the scenery, you slowly return with your guide to Materuni village where you will experience a traditional Chagga lunch. You also will have the opportunity to taste our local banana beer.

The coffee tour is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances – a fun way to immerse yourself in the local culture. You can savor the coffee you made and appreciate the views of the surrounding rainforest.

Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

We will pick you up from your hotel and after meeting the guide, chef and the other clients, we will drive to Tarangire National Park (2-hr drive), which is famous for its diverse landscape.

The park is particularly known for its abundance of ancient baobab trees and having the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country. It provides unique chances to observe the interaction between elephant families.

We will do a game drive through the park depending on where they have reported sightings of animals (mostly predators, lions, cheetahs and leopards - as they are harder to spot). The herbivores like giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, etc. are plenty to see throughout the park.

After lunch, we will proceed with the game drive and exit the park in the late afternoon when we will head to Ngare Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Along the way, you'll pass through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you might be lucky enough to see baboons or even leopards and elephants in the dense undergrowth.

You will be passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will be able to see the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater before traveling onwards to the Serengeti National Park, which you will reach by midday.

The Serengeti National Park is the largest in Tanzania with diverse landscapes and habitats, such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannahs, and mountains.

After an extensive game drive, you will drive to Serengeti Central Lodge, where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, embark on a morning game drive, spotting plenty of wildlife until the afternoon. You will return to the camp for lunch and packing.

The drive from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, depending on wildlife sightings and road conditions. This journey offers stunning views as you transition from the vast Serengeti plains to the lush highlands surrounding the crater.

Along the way, you may spot wildlife near the roadside, and you’ll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with its rolling hills and scenic landscapes. The drive concludes at Ngorongoro Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater

You'll be up early to proceed to Ngorongoro, the 8th Wonder of the Natural World. The concentration of African wildlife is the greatest on the continent.

It is almost 20 km wide, approximately 610 m deep, and is known for its large variety of wildlife. In addition to the Big Five, the various springs attract animals such as wildebeests, gazelles, reedbuck, and more than 500 bird species. At a picnic site, you will have lunch before enjoying some more game viewing in the crater.

The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest, and open plains. It's also famous for its elephants, which are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. This is due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses.

Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World. You will reach your lodge in time for a beautiful sunset and time to relax.

After breakfast, you will have a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park with splendid views of the Great Rift Valley wall. Your first encounter will probably be spotting large troops of baboons. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions.

You will visit Lake Manyara, an alkaline soda lake that is home to an incredible array of bird life that thrives on its brackish waters. Pink flamingos stoop and graze by the thousands of colorful specks against the grey minerals of the lake shore. Yellow-billed storks swoop and corkscrew on thermal rising from the escarpment, and herons flap their wings against the sun-drenched sky.

You will have a packed lunch served at a picnic site. This marks the final day of your adventure. After the game drive, our driver will take you to Arusha airport, concluding an unforgettable safari experience in Arusha.

Then, you take off to Zanzibar, where your adventure with Sacred Wilderness Expedition ends!
