Day 1
Moshi – Machame Gate to Machame Camp

The adventure begins with a transfer from Moshi to Machame Gate at 1,800m, where you complete registration and meet your mountain crew. From here, the trail leads into lush rainforest filled with monkeys, birds, and unique flora. After a steady 5–6 hours of hiking, you arrive at Machame Camp, set at 3000m, where you will overnight.

Day 2
Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Leaving the forest, you enter the heath and moorland zone where the air becomes cooler, and the views open up to Kilimanjaro’s towering peaks. The hike is shorter, around 4–6 hours, leading you to Shira Camp at 3840m. The wide plateau provides stunning sunsets and a chance to gaze at the stars above Africa’s highest mountain.

Day 3

This acclimatization day is both challenging and rewarding. You ascend steadily to Lava Tower at 4630m, a remarkable volcanic formation, before descending to Barranco Camp at 3,950m. The day takes 6–7 hours of trekking and helps your body adjust to the altitude. Overnight at Barranco, where the impressive Barranco Wall dominates the horizon.

Day 4
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Your day begins with the thrilling climb of Barranco Wall, a non-technical but exciting scramble offering breathtaking views. The trail then winds through ridges and valleys before reaching Karanga Camp at 3,995m. Hiking time is around 6–7 hours, and this camp provides an important acclimatization stop before the summit push.

Day 5
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
A shorter day of 4–5 hours takes you to Barafu Camp at 4,673m, the high camp. The trail is rocky and barren, but the views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks are spectacular. You rest early at Barafu, preparing mentally and physically for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 6
Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Summit day begins in darkness as you climb slowly and steadily toward Stella Point at 5,756m, then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, 5,895m, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, you descend to Barafu for rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp at 3,100m. Total hiking time is 7–9 hours up and another 4–5 hours down.

Day 7
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Moshi
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Moshi
On the final morning, you descend for 3–4 hours through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate at 1640m, where you receive your summit certificates. Your driver awaits to transfer you back to Moshi where your Kilimanjaro adventure comes to a rewarding close, dinner and overnight Moshi or transfer to Kilimanjaro airport.
