Day 1

Your journey begins at the Machame Gate, where porters and guides prepare the gear. The trail winds through dense rainforest—giant ferns, mossy trees, and colobus monkeys leaping overhead. The air grows cooler as you climb. By late afternoon, you emerge into a clearing where Machame Camp sits just above the tree line. Dinner is served under a canopy of stars.

Day 2

Today the forest gives way to heather and moorland. The trail is steep but rewarding—views open toward Shira Plateau and the jagged Shira Cathedral. The summit of Kilimanjaro looms closer now, snow shining in the distance. By evening you reach Shira Camp, a wide, open plain where sunsets are spectacular.

Day 3

This is a key acclimatization day. You ascend steadily across high alpine desert to Lava Tower, where the thin air challenges your breath. After lunch at 4,600m, you descend into the lush Barranco Valley. Strange giant groundsels and lobelias tower above as you arrive at Barranco Camp, a favorite on the mountain for its dramatic views.

Day 4

Karanga Camp (4035m)

At sunrise, you tackle the famous Barranco Wall, a 260m natural rock staircase. It looks intimidating but feels exhilarating, with sweeping views as you climb hand over foot. The path continues through undulating ridges before arriving at Karanga Camp, perched above the valley. Here you rest, gather strength, and watch the stars sharpen in the clear night sky.

Day 5

A shorter but demanding hike leads you to Barafu Camp, the final base before Kilimanjaro’s summit. The camp is barren, windswept, and eerily silent. After an early dinner, rest is vital, for at midnight, beneath the glowing Milky Way, the summit push begins.

Day 6

Uhuru Peak (5895m) - Mweka Camp (3100m)

Step by step, through darkness and frost, you climb. At Stella Point, dawn breaks—Africa glows beneath you. A final push takes you to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the continent. The air is thin, the view infinite. Tears, joy, triumph—this is the Roof of Africa.
You descend back to Mweka Camp, knees weary but spirit soaring. Tonight, you sleep deeply, knowing you’ve conquered a giant.
