Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest and Afternoon Bigodi Swamp Walk

After breakfast at the lodge, you will head to Kibale Forest National Park Headquarters for a briefing from experienced rangers about the chimpanzee tracking activity. With over 1,500 chimpanzees, Kibale provides one of the best opportunities to observe these primates in their natural habitat. The trek through the forest offers not only chimpanzee sightings but also the chance to spot other primates such as black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and olive baboons. Bird lovers will also appreciate the presence of rare forest species.

Road Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Rushaga Sector)

Following an early breakfast, you will embark on a scenic road transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, specifically the Rushaga sector, famous for its habituated gorilla families. The journey may take six to seven hours but offers breathtaking views of the Kigezi Highlands, rolling hills, and terraced farms often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.”
Lunch will be provided en route, after which you will continue your 5 Days Uganda Chimpanzee and Gorilla Trekking Safari journey through rural landscapes and traditional homesteads. By mid-afternoon, you will arrive at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, strategically located near the gorilla trekking starting point. The lodge offers a serene environment with stunning views of Bwindi Forest, preparing you for the once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience the following day.
