Nairobi to Met station to Mackinders Camp
Your adventure begins with a 5:00 am pick-up from your Nairobi residence. Enjoy a scenic three-hour drive through Kenya’s fertile central highlands before arriving at the Narumoru Park Gate (2,400m). After registration, you’ll transfer by vehicle up to the Met Station (3,050m). From here, the trek begins. The trail winds through dense bamboo forests, opening into heather and alpine meadows alive with giant lobelias and senecios. Lunch will be served along the way as you continue the gradual but steady ascent. By late afternoon, you will arrive at Mackinder’s Camp (4,200m), dramatically set at the foot of Mount Kenya’s main peaks — Batian and Nelion.
