Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your Kilimanjaro On Foot safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation and drive you to Tarangire National Park, a journey of about two and a half hours on smooth tarmac roads. The park takes its name from the Tarangire River, often called the “river of warthogs,” which serves as the lifeline for wildlife during the dry season.

Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, frequently seen gathering near the river. Keep an eye out for giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, all of which are closely watched by predators such as lions and leopards. Bird enthusiasts will delight in spotting more breeding species here than anywhere else in the world. Towering ancient baobab trees, some believed to be over a thousand years old, dot the landscape, adding to the park’s majestic scenery.

Lunch will be enjoyed at a scenic picnic site inside the park. After an unforgettable game drive, you will continue to your accommodation in Karatu for the evening.

Karatu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will drive into the cooler highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with an opportunity to pause and admire the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. From there, you will continue through the Conservation Area en route to the Serengeti, entering its southern region.

The Serengeti is remarkable, renowned for its endless open grasslands offering unparalleled wildlife viewing. While home to an abundance of animals year-round, it is perhaps most famous for the Great Migration—an awe-inspiring spectacle of wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes moving across the plains in search of fresh grazing. Depending on the month, the migration can be observed in different areas, and knowing where to look makes all the difference.

Lodge for the next three nights is flexible and may vary depending on the time of year and the migration’s location. While we’ve suggested a stay in Central Serengeti, the exact lodge or camp will be selected to ensure you are close to the wildlife action.

Main Destination:

Best Time To Visit January to February and June to October (Different areas are best at different times)
High Season July to March (The Seronera area is crowded)

Enjoy your final sunrise in the Serengeti! After breakfast, you will journey toward the Ngorongoro Crater, taking in the scenic wonders along the way.

Ngorongoro Crater, hidden within steep volcanic walls, is a pristine wilderness of sweeping savannahs, pockets of acacia woodland, sparkling lakes, and wetlands. Formed when a massive volcano collapsed two to three million years ago, it offers one of the most remarkable natural landscapes in the world.

Descending into the crater is an adventure in itself. Once on the crater floor, you will encounter large herds of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles, alongside more than 500 species of birds. The crater also provides one of the best opportunities to spot the endangered black rhino grazing in the open grasslands.

After an afternoon of unforgettable wildlife experiences, you will drive to your accommodation in Karatu to conclude the day.

Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

This morning, you will set off for Lake Manyara National Park, the final highlight of your unforgettable safari. Lake Manyara is remarkably diverse, here, every sight is on a grand scale: the park is compact—one of Africa’s narrowest—yet majestic, with the Great Rift Escarpment rising dramatically along its western edge.

At the heart of the park lies Lake Manyara, a shallow saltwater lake, attracting thousands of bird species. As you explore, keep an eye out for baboons and elephants wandering through the lush evergreen forest, and don’t miss the iconic tree-climbing lions that have made this park famous across Africa.

A picnic lunch will be served amidst the park’s stunning scenery, giving you a perfect chance to soak it all in.

After your game drive, you will be dropped off at your preferred destination—whether Arusha town, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport.

We hope your adventure with Kilimanjaro On Foot has been as extraordinary as the landscapes you’ve explored!
