Day 1

Jinka-Hammer -Turmi

Jinka-Hammer -Turmi

Upon arrival at Jinka, guide will greet you and guide you on a 130km drive to Turmi, the heart of the Hamar Tribe. Depending on the day, you will stop at a local tribal market—Keyafer on Thursday, Aldduba on Tuesday, Dimeka on Saturday, or Turmi on Monday. If it’s not market day, a visit to a Banna tribe village will be arranged. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to meet a small group of Mursi people near Keyafer, where you can observe the unique cultural practices of women with lip plates and body scarification. If available, you may also witness the traditional Bull Jumping Ceremony of the Banna or Hamar Tribe. Your day concludes with an overnight stay at Paradise Lodge in Turmi.

Day 2

Embark on a 150 km (2-hour) drive from Turmi to Omo Rate, where you'll visit the Dassanech tribe, known for their unique culture and proximity to the Omo River near the Kenya border. After engaging with the Dassanech people, return to Turmi for lunch. If your visit coincides with market days on Monday, Thursday, or Saturday, explore the vibrant Hamar tribal market. Additionally, if available, consider attending the Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony, a significant cultural event that showcases the tribe's traditions.

Travel 30 km from Turmi to Korcho village, home to the Kara tribe, located 65 km west along the Omo River. The Kara people, known for their intricate facial and body paintings, offer visitors the chance to experience their artistic traditions firsthand. After engaging with the community, return to Turmi for lunch. Optional activities include attending the Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony or the Evangadi Dancing Ceremony. Overnight accommodations are at Paradise Lodge in Turmi.

Jinka

After breakfast, you will embark on a drive to Mago National Park, contingent upon road safety due to potential conflicts between the Mursi and Ari tribes in the area. If conditions are not favorable, the alternative route will take you to Keyafer, a safer option. Depending on the day, you may have the opportunity to visit a local market of the Banna or Aari tribe, immersing yourself in the vibrant culture. We will dropp you of at your hotel, apartment, homestay.
