Arrival in Kigali and Fly to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will embark on a private helicopter transfer (25 minutes) for stunning aerial views of the Virunga Volcanoes, or a scenic 2.5-hour drive through Rwanda’s iconic rolling hills. Arrive at Bisate Lodge, where six luxury forest villas overlook the Bisoke and Karisimbi volcanoes. Enjoy a personalized welcome and check-in, followed by a gourmet lunch.
In the afternoon, explore the Bisate reforestation project, planting a tree of your own, or take a guided walk through the local village, learning about community-led conservation initiatives. You may also visit the nearby Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund Research Center or relax at the lodge with a massage and drinks around the fire pit. Dinner is a multi-course farm-to-table experience with stunning views of the forested slopes.

Gorilla Habituation in Volcanoes National Park

Rise early for your gorilla Habituation adventure. After a light breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for briefing and group assignment. Your expert guide and trackers will lead you through dense bamboo forest and volcano foothills in search of one of the park’s habituated gorilla families. The trek may last from 1 to 4 hours depending on the group’s location. Once located, spend a magical 60 minutes in the presence of these gentle giants — observing everything from playful juveniles to the dominant silverback.
Return to Bisate for a celebratory lunch and well-earned rest. In the afternoon, opt for a golden monkey trek, a visit to the Fossey grave site, or enjoy a wellness treatment in your private villa. End your day with cocktails on your deck or a fireside chat with a local naturalist or conservationist.

Fly back to Kigali and Departure

After a hearty breakfast at your lodge, you will transfer to the Airstrip in Musanze for your flight back to Kigali.
