Arrival in Kigali and Scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be warmly welcomed by our Nextgen Safaris Team at the Airport and transferred to Volcanoes National Park. You'll enjoy the scenic drive through Rwanda’s lush landscapes. After checking in at your lodge, you'll have lunch, then visit the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village for traditional dances and cultural entertainment. This afternoon introduces you to local customs and traditions. You'll return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, preparing for your gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park.

Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Visit to Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey

After an early breakfast, you'll transfer to the park headquarters for the 7:30 am for a gorilla trekking briefing. You will be assigned your first gorilla family and guided by expert rangers through the forests of Volcanoes National Park. The trek can take 2–5 hours depending on the gorilla group’s location. You'll spend an unforgettable hour observing these magnificent creatures before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, an optional visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund is available. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Second Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park, Transfer to Kigali and Departure

After breakfast, you'll head to the park headquarters for your second gorilla trekking adventure. You'll trek through the lush Volcanoes National Park Forest to find a different gorilla family and spend another magical hour with them. After lunch at the lodge, you will depart for Kigali, enjoying scenic views along the way. You'll arrive at your hotel or airport, concluding your memorable double gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park.
