South Africa Map
Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park lies in the hilly interior of KwaZulu-Natal province. Accessible on a tarred road, its Nyalazi Gate is 55km/34mi (1 hours’ drive*) inland of the coastal village of St Lucia and 250km/155mi (3 hours’ drive*) north of Durban. Seldom visited as a destination in its own right, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi is usually included as part of a tour around the country.
Most visitors to South Africa fly into O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg or Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town. It is also possible to fly directly or get a connecting domestic flight to King Shaka International Airport (DUR), which lies to the north of Durban and is only 2½ hours’ drive* from Hluhluwe-iMfolozi’s Nyalazi Gate. All airports offer car rental.
*Driving times are only a rough indication. You should always consider the possibility of significant delays.
