Idube was wonderful. Guides did a wonderful job with the guests. All was amazing. I gave 3 stars for birding as September was not the time of year for birding...we knew that going in.

Our trip to Idube Game Reserve was the best nature experience of our life. We came close to all big five animals: Buffalos, Elephants, Rhinos, Leopards and Lions. Male and female lions with cubs, Leopards with impala kill in threes, big buffalo herds, elephants few meters from our vehicle and many rhinos (one with a calve). Besides the big five animals we saw crocodiles up close (on foot), hippos, giraffes fighting, Wild dogs trying to steal a leopard kill and much much more.
The vegetation was very dry due to the time of the year and the weather was cold in the morning but very nice during most of the day; not too warm. Our guides handed out warm blankets and hot-water bags to keep warm in the morning. The ranger and tracker were very kind and you could feel that they wanted to give us the best experience possible. They answered all questions perfectly and were good to ask us what we wanted to see. We stayed at the Idube Game Lodge which had all we could have hoped for: Nice people,

good food, luxury chalets. Animals such as Nyalas and warthogs walked freely inside the lodge which made the atmosphere inside the lodge just perfect.
This was a trip we will never forget and we hope to come back more than once!

We travelled to South Africa at the beginning of July 2011 - the dry season - and it can be chilly! However this also means that there are no mozzies or other flies but the disadvantage is that there is less variety of general wildlife to see. However every day on Sabi Sands, we saw all the key species several times over!
Our twice daily drives were led by knowledgable, friendly Rangers and trackers whose ability to find the big cats was uncanny. Going on drives from Idube, being on a Private Reserve, means that you never encounter many vehicles and only ever find one or two at any sightings so unlike many centres we have been to. This means that you can often observe the animals quietly for long periods undisturbed.
There is also plenty of opportunity to go tracking in the local area safely with the Rangers to see bird life, insects, and smaller mammals and the odd snake!
This is a really friendly, small family run centre where nothing is too

much trouble for their guests. The accomodation at Idube is very comfortable indeed and the meticulous care and attention you receive to make every single person's visit special is wonderful. The food is also astonishingly good and we came away with many recipes they are more than willing to share with us. Eating our evening meal around the Boma is such a friendly way to end a day.
My husband and I recommend Idube unreservedly as a centre for African Safari adventures.

It is a very exclusive area where only the people staying at the reserve can enjoy the place, which means there are always few cars around. Besides people are not allowed to drive by their own.
