The best time to visit is from August to November. It is generally very wet, but it tends to rain less at this time and when it does, it is a gentle rain. Hiking conditions are also good in the colder months from May to July, but at this time reptiles and amphibians are less easy to find and some lemurs are less active. Many lemurs have their babies around October/November.

May to October Dry Season – Winter

It rains less and the forest paths are drier
Cooler weather is good for hiking
In October/November, many lemurs have babies
September to November are good bird-watching months
It gets cold at night
Animals tend to be less active

November to April Wet Season – Summer

Reptiles and some mammals are more active
It rains a lot and the humidity is high
Forest paths can become very muddy and slippery
January to March often see extreme weather and cyclones
