The road to Bemaraha is virtually impassable in the Wet season, from late November to April, and the park and lodges usually close down over that period. The area is very hot, so hiking conditions are best in the coolest months from May to October. July and August offer the coolest conditions but these are also the busiest months.

April to October Dry Season – Winter

  • Not much rain and the access road to the park is passable
  • Hiking is easier in cooler and less-humid conditions

  • The park gets busy from July to August

November to March Wet Season – Summer

  • Lemurs are more active
  • October to November are the best bird-watching months
  • November is low season and the park might still be open to visit
  • The park and lodges are closed from late November to April
  • It rains a lot, it is very hot and the humidity is high
