Amazing beauty of dunes and desert

Namib Naukluft National Park is a beautiful park, but not a your typical safari destination. You won't see much game, nor will you see many birds. You will see a lot of sand, but it's beautiful. The patterns in the sand, the variations in colors of the dunes (older dunes are darker then younger dunes).
Visit Sossusvlei, Dead vlei and climb the popular Dune 45, the most photographed dune. Dunes can be as high as 300 meters.
I flew with a small plane from Dessert Air over Namib Naukluft national park and saw the endless desert, the fairy circles en de red dunes from above. A day i won't forget, ever.

It's an unique landscape which you have to experience.

This part of Namibia is famous because of its beautiful scenery. Wildlife is not spectacular, but oryx, springbok and ostrich are frequently spotted, cheetah and caracal are less commun. But there is a lot to experience in the desert. A "gogga tour" in the Namib desert is beautiful and you'll be surprised to learn about the little 5 of the desert. (Tommy's tours and safaris, Swakopmund). Snakes, spiders, lizards, scorpions and chameleons, besides beautiful landscapes and unique desert vegetations. A scenic flight is wonderfull ( by plane from Swakop to Tsau //Khaeb and back)
Accommodations: From basic campsites to luxurious lodges are available in the enviroment. Generally the food in the lodges is good/very good, mostly buffet.

Not the best but it is nice walk and with it, you will avoid sitting in a car for hours.

We drove from one side to the other en route from Walvis Bay to Windhoek, and saw little wildlife at all, but the scenery was stunning.

We loved our trip to the Sossuvlei Desert. It is a unic place with scenic views and a good energy. It seams that Namibia is still evoluing in the tourst business. I think that the service given on the trip is too expensive for what they offer, but it is still worth. I would do it again.

The Namib desert is bleak and barren and vast, but also can be beautiful and surprisingly varied.
Plus there is some great wildlife here if you have a good local guide who knows where and how to find it.

Wilderness in its entire splendor!

An ideal place to experience quietude and divinity. Barely witnessed any sign of human presence at all throughout my staying in the park. Immense areas of empty desert and desolate mountains where various refined for such harsh conditions creatures live. Climbing a dune through dawn to marvel at the desert sunrise, and hiking for a few hours through the extreme desert heat to Sossusvlei salt/clay pan and its for-ages-immemorial-dead trees were among the highlights of the trip.
