Truly a wonderful experience
We went on a 7-day shared safari (and Materuni waterfall) with Jambo Masai Tour, and it was fantastic! Everything went perfectly; our guide Enock explained so much about the animals and helped us get to know the parks we visited much better. We even witnessed the Great Migration—a truly unique spectacle. Thanks also to Juliette; she was incredibly kind and helpful, and communication was clear. Asante!

Our 1st safari, unforgettable Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater
I came across Jambo Masai Tour after a long search for safari agencies in Tanzania, and I was immediately impressed by the kindness and promptness of the staff, Raphael in particular. We decided to go on safari in Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater, spending two days travelling from Zanzibar, with all transfers included in the price.
It was a truly unforgettable experience and one I would highly recommend. Kevin, our driver, was kind and attentive throughout the trip, as well as extremely knowledgeable about the parks we visited and the animals we were lucky enough to see.
Unfortunately, at Ngorongoro we had an issue with our entry permit for the reserve. Kevin immediately took action to try to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and did everything he could to help us.
We didn’t manage to complete the Big Five, as we were missing the leopard—but we’ll use that as an excuse to come back soon!
Thank you so much for this amazing experience. It was truly exciting and unforgettable!

Service Failures and Itinerary Deviations by Kenya Partner Agency (Shades of Africa)
I booked a tour with Jambo Masai Tours, who outsourced the Kenya portion of my trip to Shades of Africa. My complaint is regarding the services delivered by their outsourced partner.
While we have no issue with Jambo Masai Tours directly, we experienced multiple itinerary deviations and service issues from their outsourced Kenya counterpart, specifically driver-guide, David, from Shades of Africa.
Below are the factual details and itinerary deviations encountered during the four days of our trip in Kenya:
Day 1 (Late Arrival & Tipping Request): The driver arrived at 7:00 AM for a scheduled 5:40 AM pick-up at the airport. Upon departure, he requested a tip rate of USD 20 per person per day. This contradicts the rate of USD 10 specified in Jambo Masai's official brochure guidelines.
Day 2 (Missed Itinerary Item & Unscheduled Stop): Delayed arrival times resulted in the complete omission of our scheduled evening game drive in the Maasai Mara. The driver altered the route to include a Maasai village tour not listed in our official itinerary, requiring an unscheduled USD 60 out-of-pocket admission fee.
Day 3 (Altered Game Drive Duration): The driver concluded the game drive at 3:30 PM at the accommodation without prior consultation. While he had communicated the 7:30 AM start time the previous day, the conclusion time was not discussed, and we were notified that the tour had ended upon arrival at the lodging at 3:30 PM.
Day 4 (Tanzania Border Tipping Dispute): At the Tanzania border drop-off at 11:00 AM, the driver contested our tip of USD 100 for the 4-day period (equivalent to USD 12.50 per person per day). He explicitly demanded USD 20 per person per day inside the vehicle until we reiterated Jambo Masai's USD 10 guideline, at which point the provided amount was accepted.
Expertly planned, unforgettable safaris with exceptional service and genuine care.
# An Unforgettable Family Safari — Outstanding Planning, Guides and Care When It Mattered Most
Our experience with Jambo Masai Tours began in October 2025, when I started planning what I hoped would be the ultimate African safari for my family. I submitted our plans through SafariBookings.com and received several proposals from different operators.
Our itinerary was ambitious and logistically complicated: seven days starting in Nairobi, continuing through Amboseli National Park, crossing into Tanzania through Arusha, then Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Central Serengeti, Northern Serengeti, and finally back to Central Serengeti for our departure from Seronera Airstrip to continue our vacation in Zanzibar.
From my first conversations with Raphael at Jambo Masai Tours, I was impressed by his responsiveness, flexibility, and willingness to work with us.
Raphael managed to put together this complicated Kenya–Tanzania itinerary at a very competitive and family-friendly price while maintaining the quality of accommodations and experiences we wanted.
During the months of planning, several things changed. Our group decreased from five travelers to four, and some of the originally planned hotels and camps had to be replaced because of availability or renovations. Raphael handled every change professionally and without creating additional stress for us. When accommodations needed to change, he arranged excellent alternatives, including high-quality luxury camps.
He also coordinated special experiences such as our hot-air-balloon safari and kept all the moving pieces of a complicated cross-border itinerary working together.
### Two Countries, Two Excellent Guides
One of the strengths of our trip was the quality of our guides.
For the Kenya portion, we were taken care of by Joseph from Shades of Africa, Jambo Masai Tours' partner in Kenya. Joseph demonstrated an impressive level of safari expertise and knowledge. His experience added tremendous value to our time in Kenya and helped our family better understand and appreciate the wildlife and environment around us.
The transition from the Kenya portion of our journey into Tanzania was handled smoothly, which was particularly important given how much ground our itinerary covered.
In Tanzania, we were joined by Ruben from Jambo Masai Tours.
Ruben was much more than a driver. Throughout Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti, he was professional, knowledgeable, patient, attentive, and genuinely committed to giving our family an exceptional experience.
And the safari itself was spectacular.
The wildlife, scenery, and enormous variety of landscapes across Kenya and Tanzania exceeded our expectations. From Amboseli through Tarangire and Ngorongoro and deep into the Serengeti, we experienced moments together as a family that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
But the experience that ultimately showed us the true character of Jambo Masai Tours happened when things did not go according to plan.
### When Our Safari Suddenly Became a Medical Emergency
During our final night in the Serengeti, I experienced an unexpected medical emergency in the middle of the night.
Being seriously unwell in such a remote location, thousands of miles from home, was frightening—not only for me, but for my entire family.
Ruben's response was extraordinary.
He remained calm and immediately focused on getting me the medical attention I needed. He helped us through an extremely difficult situation, made sure I received the necessary care, and provided reassurance to my family at a moment when we desperately needed it.
His dedication went far beyond what anyone could reasonably expect from a safari guide or driver.
The following morning, despite the disruption the emergency had caused to the original transportation schedule, Ruben continued taking care of us and safely delivered our family to the airport so we could continue our journey.
Behind the scenes, Jambo Masai Tours rearranged transportation and logistics because of the emergency. This created additional costs, which the company explained to us openly and respectfully. Given everything they had done to prioritize my health and our family's safety, I was completely comfortable contributing toward those unexpected expenses.
Great service is easy to recognize when everything goes according to plan.
I believe the true measure of a company is how its people respond when things don't.
That night in the Serengeti, Ruben and Jambo Masai Tours exceeded every expectation.
From Raphael patiently planning and repeatedly adjusting our complex trip, to Joseph's expertise during our Kenya safari, to Ruben's exceptional guiding throughout Tanzania—and ultimately his compassion and determination during my medical emergency—we felt that we were dealing with people who genuinely cared about our family.
Raphael, thank you for turning an ambitious itinerary that began as a plan on SafariBookings into an extraordinary journey.
Joseph, thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us in Kenya.
And Ruben, my family and I will never forget what you did for us. During one of the most frightening moments of our journey, you treated us like family.
For anyone considering a Kenya and Tanzania safari, I can wholeheartedly recommend Jambo Masai Tours.
They gave our family the African safari we had dreamed about. But when circumstances suddenly changed, they gave us something even more important—the knowledge that we were in safe and caring hands.
**Asante sana to Raphael, Ruben, Joseph, and everyone behind the scenes who made this extraordinary family journey possible.**
