Management good, drivers not
3/5

We went on a seven day safari in Kenya with Josana tours.

The positive side was Joseph (the manager). Very kind, flexible, responsive and professional before and during the safari. If the review was only about him, it would definitely be a five stars!

The downside were the two drivers we got (Sam and Joseph).
Just a few examples below:

- On the first day in Nairobi, they were one hour late to pick us up and bring us to the agency for the payment of the balance. As a result we arrived late at Masai Mara (in the program it said we were supposed to get there for lunch, we arrived at 4pm) with a very short safari.

- After that, they have been late (20,30,40 minutes) to pick us up in the morning every day except for one. Twice we faced the bizarre situation of having all tourists in the group waiting outside the hotel with the bags and the driver not being there.

- You get a driver, not a guide. Zero explanations on animals, parks, etc. the driver wasn't saying anything. In other jeeps we could hear drivers providing explanations and even having guide books on animals.

- For the full day safari, instead of leaving early in the morning (prime time to see predators) like you do with other agencies, they would make you leave the accommodation at 8:30. At Amboseli we were literally the last tourists left in the entire lodge waiting for the guide to go to the park and start the safari. Of course, no predators seen that morning. Same for the way back, instead of leaving the park in the late afternoon to see animals (predators in particular) before sunset they would make you leave at 4:30.

- One of the two drivers driving on the highway incredibly slow (being passed by all other jeeps and minivans) to save gas ( and complaining once about how much gas he had used).

- Broken seat belts on both jeeps. Not an issue inside the park but dangerous on the highway.

- One day, no water provided until mid-day (one liter per person was included). We had to write to the manager to finally get the driver to buy it.

- One day the driver brought us to a restaurant at 11am (lunch was included) and wanted us to wait in the parking lot for an hour for the restaurant to open rather than driving ahead and then stopping later (we still had 200 km to go) saying that all other restaurants on the way were too expensive.

- One of the drivers often texting and speaking on the phone while driving.

- Generally speaking, and more importantly, the feeling was that they would constantly try to reduce the time dedicated to safari, rushing you through. A couple of times we had to write to the manager essentially in order to ensure that the program was respected. As an example, at Nakuru they tried to have only a 2-hour game drive. Whilst for the drivers having a shorter safari is good (time, energy and gas savings), this is really bad for you as a tourist, as game driving and animals sighting is exactly the reason why tourists go to Kenya... You should just relax and enjoy the safari, not having to discuss with the agency about the program being followed when it comes to game drive time slots.

Had an incredible trip with Josana Tours—Joseph was patient and clear with planning, and Boniface’s
5/5

We had an amazing experience with Josana Tours! Right from the start, Joseph was extremely patient with all our queries—always calm, clear, and helpful in planning our itinerary. Everything was well-organized and smooth.

Our driver and guide, Boniface, was fantastic—experienced, reliable, and knew the routes and parks inside out. We felt safe and well taken care of throughout.

My wife and I did a 2-day trip to Masai Mara, followed by visits to Naivasha and Nakuru, and every moment was memorable—from the game drives to the scenic lake views. The Land Cruiser was comfortable and perfect for the terrain.

Absolutely unforgettable!
5/5

Our 8-day group safari in Kenya exceeded all expectations. From booking, to the moment we arrived, the experience was seamless. Joseph was very easy to communicate with and made the booking process quick and easy. Our guide Francis was incredible! He went above and beyond to make our time in Kenya special. He was knowledgeable, attentive, kind, funny and became such a dear friend to us during this journey. Francis made each game drive exciting and educational. We saw 4 of the Big Five and many other incredible animals, often in close proximity, which was a dream come true. We were so impressed with the wildlife we experienced considering it was the off-season and could not be more happy. The group dynamics added to the adventure, sharing unforgettable moments around campfires, during early morning hot air ballon rides and game drives. The hotels and tented camps were comfortable, authentic, and exactly what we hoped for to immerse ourselves into Kenyas vibrant culture. The food was amazing and the staff were incredibly friendly, always going above and beyond to ensure our safety and comfort.
The entire trip was well-organized, and truly a once in a lifetime experience. I highly recommend Josana tours and this safari to anyone seeking adventure, nature, and a deeper connection with Africa’s stunning wilderness.

Amazing Safari with Josana Tours and Francis – Truly Above and Beyond!
5/5

Our safari with Josana Tours was an incredible adventure from start to finish. We felt safe, well cared for, and completely immersed in the beauty of Kenya thanks to the outstanding service and dedication of our guide, Francis and Joseph’s communication from behind the scenes.

Francis went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience. His deep knowledge of the wildlife, warm personality, and constant communication made every part of the trip smooth and enjoyable. He kept us informed of any changes and was always one step ahead to make sure we didn’t miss a thing.

We were lucky enough to see four of the Big Five—just missed the elusive leopard, which gives us the perfect reason to come back! The sightings, the landscapes, and the personal touches made this a trip we’ll never forget.

If you're planning a safari in Kenya, we can't recommend Josana Tours and Francis highly enough. They made our dream trip a reality, and we can’t wait to return.

An excellent tour operator who organized our 8-day safari through Tanzania and Kenya flawlessly
5/5

Everything was perfectly arranged, I didn’t have to worry about a thing throughout the entire trip. We were picked up everywhere right on time, and the safaris were absolutely amazing. Both of our guides went above and beyond to give us the most unforgettable experience, each with great knowledge, enthusiasm, and care. Even the transfer from Nairobi to Arusha was smoothly organized, which was such a relief and made the journey incredibly comfortable. I can truly recommend this tour to anyone, it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

High quality safari
5/5

I had a wonderful experience with Josana Tours for a 3 days/2 nights safari in Amboseli during New Year’s Eve.
Joseph was highly reactive and able to answer all my questions really fast.
As I am solo travelling, he gave me the opportunity to join a group, we were 4 and it was the perfect amount of people to fit in the safari van. During the trip we were guided by Stanley, who was adorable and really good at finding the most beautiful animals around the park.
Finally, we stayed at Nyanti Camp, a comfortable place to rest and eat delicious food.
I really recommend their service!
