A truly magical, authentic, once-in-a-lifetime safari experience with a passionate local company and
5/5

We, a couple from Belgium, booked our safari with Luwai Tanzania Safaris, a local company run by Silas Nassary, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our trip to Tanzania.
Silas has over 10 years of experience and runs his own business with a genuine passion. This is not just a job for him, it’s his life’s work. He truly knows what he’s doing: his knowledge of wildlife, parks, and routes is impressive, and his communication is clear, friendly, and professional. From the very start we felt we could completely trust him to plan everything well and to tailor the trip to our wishes. He worked literally from sunrise to sunset for us every day during our 7-day safari. That kind of dedication and care is rare.
At the end of this trip, we can say that he truly cares about you and goes above and beyond to make your experience unforgettable. So don’t miss out and if you want to book a safari, go with Luwai Tanzania Safaris!
We deliberately chose to travel with a local Tanzanian operator instead of a large international company, because we wanted our money to go directly to the people who actually make your safari happen. When you book locally, you’re supporting someone who truly earns it. You get someone who genuinely cares and who gives you an authentic and personal experience rather than a standard tour. And as a bonus, this way there’s also a bit more of your budget left for better lodges, longer game drives, …
If you’re looking for an authentic and once-in-a-lifetime safari, there’s no one we’d recommend more than Luwai Tanzania Safaris and Silas! It wasn’t just a trip, it was a magical experience.

A fantastic guide full of enthusiasm. He's always smiling, always positive.

What an unforgettable trip! We had a fantastic safari through two different parks in Tanzania, the highlight of which was witnessing the Great Migration in the Serengeti—a breathtaking spectacle we will never forget. Our guide, Silas, was amazing: enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and with an infectious passion for nature. When booking the trip, he helped us by sharing his own experiences. He always remained positive and made the safari enjoyable, even when there wasn't much to see. Thanks to him, we saw and learned an incredible amount. Everything was perfectly organized; we didn't have to worry about a thing. We also visited a school that Silas himself supports with his own Iuwai foundation.
Highly recommended!

Magical Safari!
February 2025

We had the pleasure of traveling with Silas and Luwai Tanzania Safaris for the better part of three weeks in February 2025. From start to finish, Silas was fantastic, so knowledgeable and very personable! Silas and his company did a beautiful job of planning and delivering our experience, from the moment we stepped off the plane. His work prior to our arrival was obvious and his instructions and packing lists were perfect. Silas himself is an amazing guide, his experience and skill with and around the animals really showed his respect and love for his work and his country’s beauty. We always felt safe and could feel how important our safety and that of the animals was to him. His skill in the jeep and his ability to spot the animals and “sense” the animals allowed us to see so much more than I could have dreamed.

We began with a rest day near Arusha, then a wonderful day of mountain bike riding through the Rau forest and surrounding region with spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Our safari time started the following day on the road to Enduimet Wildlife Management Area, a beautiful and wild parkland where we experienced the first of many breathtakingly beautiful sunsets, a campfire dinner in Maasai land and a predawn walking safari with three Maasai guides. What a start…spectacular sunrise, giraffes, jackals, gazelles and elephants!

The following day we were welcomed to Sinai, Silas’s home village, to see the work of The Luwai Foundation in rebuilding and expanding the primary school and supporting the work of the community in earning money to improve the infrastructure and the lives of the villagers. After a warm send off from the people of Sinai we were off to Tarangire National Park for three days, then on to the Serengeti National Park for 5 days, staying 1 or 2 nights in different lodges, both permanent and migratory.

At this point, I will say that the lodging for the entire trip was fantastic levels of “tent” camping, each lodge had a different landscape, view and experience, but each was beautiful, the accommodations were excellent and the staff were very professional and welcoming! I tried to stay awake each night and wake up early to hear the wanderings and voices of the surrounding animals.

It’s very difficult to describe the jeep experience, hours of traveling on rough roads and scanning the landscape and horizons for animals and birds as anything but “magical”, it was an experience of a lifetime! To see a family of dozens of elephants brush past your jeep, newly born babies stumbling as they learn to handle the terrain and figuring out what to do with their trunks, is nothing you can imagine. To see a pride of lions walk out of the long grasses, the cubs wrestling and tumbling together, or two maturing male brothers hunting together on the plains, or even just resting in the shade of the Acacia trees after a big meal. To see the parade of animals approaching a watering hole, bathing, and drinking and constantly on alert. The beauty and variety of birds, and their behaviors and their functions in the environment. To see tens of thousands (probably hundreds of thousands) of Wildebeests and zebras migrating across the landscape, as far as you can see, just unimaginable!

I could go on, but you probably get the idea…truly an experience of a lifetime.

Dear Tim

Thank you so much for your heartfelt and beautifully written review. We are truly honored to have been part of your unforgettable journey through Tanzania.

It was an absolute pleasure to guide you across our stunning landscapes—from the majestic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the peaceful moments in Enduimet, to the thrilling wildlife encounters in Tarangire and Serengeti. Your kind words about the experience, the lodges, and especially your visit to my home village of Sinai and our work with The Luwai Foundation, mean more than you can imagine.

We are deeply touched that you felt the care, passion, and dedication we put into every safari. Knowing that your time with us felt magical makes all our efforts worthwhile.

On behalf of the entire Luwai Tanzania Safaris family—asante sana! You will always be part of our extended safari family, and we hope to welcome you back again one day for more adventures in the wild.

Warmest regards,
Silas & The Luwai Tanzania Safaris Team
