Our safari was indulgent, seamless, and full of wonder.
5/5

We just got back from our 10 days classic luxury journey in Tanzania with Herbivore African Expeditions, and honestly, we're convinced we were living our best lives out there. We explored Tarengire National Park, Serengeti National Park and the legendary Ngorongoro Crater.
We started at Tarengire National Park. Our guide was fantastic knowledgeable about wildlife, he explained very much about animals behavior. Then Serengeti game drives were basically a nonstop game of spot that animal, and . We saw elephants doing chaotic elephant things, zebras blocking the road like traffic cops, and hippos who looked constantly annoyed with us. Ngorongoro our last stop. We saw the Big Five without rushing, with a guide who truly cared about wildlife and our experience. Herbivore African Expeditions made our whole journey very comfortable and amazing.

The 3 safari we felt seamless and incredibly special.
5/5

Our group of friends just returned from the most extraordinary 3-day luxury safari adventure in Tanzania, and we are still speechless with Herbivore African Expeditions. We were first explored as Tarangire, where giant baobab trees and endless herds of elephants made us feel like we had stepped into a nature documentary. Our guide was very knowledgeable and attentive. All arrangements were perfect, every meal delicious. The journey continued to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, a place so breathtaking it hardly seems real. Watching lions, rhinos, and playful zebras all sharing the same vast basin was a highlight we will never forget.

Perfect 7 days safari in Tanzania
5/5

Our 7 days Tanzania safari with Herbivore African Expeditions and it was beautiful and cool experience. Everything was beautifully organized by Herbivore team. We explored Tarengire , Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
We started at Tarengire National Park. Tarangire welcomed us with its majestic baobab trees and incredible elephant herds. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about wildlife- he made sure we didn’t miss a single detail about the animal. We were very excited when we arrived in Serengeti. Serengeti gave us magical sightings of lions, cheetahs, and even a leopard resting in a tree. Lastly we explored the legendary Ngorongoro Crater and we felt were another world. It's nature beauty and wildlife mind blowing views. It was our genuine, immersive safari in Tanzania. Thank you Herbivore African Expeditions for made our safari memorable.

MJ: The Beauty of Africa shines through his expressions, his expertise, and his knowledge!
5/5

Simon Mwakajumba radiates the joy of Tanzania! You can’t help but smile when you are around him and embrace the love for his beautiful country! His skill and ability to expose you to vast landscapes, experiences, and culture makes for a truly wonderful vacation.

Our time together consisted of a personalized experience hiking on Mount Kilimanjaro, learning about Maasai tribes, and embracing the wonders of seeing animals in their natural environment in Tarangiri National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park. MJ handled all the details of my journey helping to create an amazingly stress-free experience from start to finish!

MJ’s knowledge about all aspects of the African bush is mind-blowing! He willingly shares amazing facts along the way, allows plenty of time for observation of the animals (whether it be with binoculars or photos), navigates the maze of bumpy roads with care and concern of his passengers, and always fills each day with so much happiness!

No matter how many times MJ has spotted the animals, he always exudes pure amazement for his guest; making our experience truly magical! Not only can you call MJ an amazing guide, but also a true friend!

Thank you Herbivore African Expeditions for your professionalism and such amazing memories that will last a lifetime!

The epitome of hospitality
5/5

When we arrived in Tanzania at 5 am Simon aka MJ greeted the three of us; my Daughter Jen , my wife Donna and Myself . Simon was the epitome of hospitality. He invited me to sit in the front of the Safari vehicle . From there our relationship grew with every slow mile he drove , road conditions are not a strength in Tanzania .

MJ now , became our most accessible source of insight .
We were never intimidated nor concerned about our questions directed to him . His responses were comprehensive, but not overly so . We learned an endless amount about the African wildlife and people from MJ .

Sadly the adventure required we part company as Kenya was our next stop . MJ left all of us with priceless memories . Our lives were enhanced thru our relationship .

MJ thank you very much!

Most caring and organized tour operator!
5/5

A truly great safari experience goes beyond just spotting wildlife; it’s a holistic and transformative journey that engages all the senses and leaves a lasting impact.
A great safari will maximize opportunities for close-up, respectful wildlife viewing in their natural habitats. This includes encounters with the “big five “ (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), as well as other diverse species, such as zebras, hippos, alligators, and a vast array of bird life . A knowledgeable and passionate guide is crucial. They are not just drivers. They are interpreters of the wilderness. Sharing their expertise on animal behavior, ecosystems and conservation efforts. A great guide will enhance your understanding and appreciation of the environment, making the experience, educational and insightful.they also play a vital role in ensuring safety during wildlife encounters. A truly great safari extends beyond the wildlife, allowing for meaningful interactions with local communities and a glimpse into their way of life. This can include visiting local villages, markets, engaging in cultural activities, fostering a deeper understanding of the regions, people and traditions. Our accommodations were luxurious and rustic at the same time. I would highly recommend this tour guide and I hope to repeat the trip in a year or two.

Absolutely the most amazing professional, knowledgeable, and personable person I’ve ever met.
5/5

My first trip out of my home country led me to Tanzania with the most amazing tour guide, Simon and his staff with Herbivore expeditions. I must say I was quite anxious as I had never flown before let alone that far, but as I met Simon and his staff. All fears and anxiety subsided. Everyone was extremely welcoming, very personable and amazingly knowledgeable about the country, its culture, the wildlife and the geography of the country.

We were able to see all kinds of wildlife. It seems Herbivore and staff went above the call of duty and absolutely exceeded expectations. An amazing trip well worth the time and the cost of the trip would actually love to do the trip exactly as it was and do it again .thanks again for a wonderful trip.

Simon Mwakajumba (affectionately known as MJ) was absolutely amazing!
5/5

A Life-Changing Safari in Tanzania

Our 2023 safari in Tanzania was truly the trip of a lifetime. From the sweeping plains of the Serengeti to the breathtaking wonder of the Ngorongoro Crater, and the lush, wildlife-rich beauty of Arusha National Park, every moment felt like a dream.

The real magic of this experience, however, was our incredible guide, MJ (Simon). His deep knowledge of the land, wildlife, and local culture transformed every drive into a fascinating adventure. MJ has an uncanny ability to spot animals from unbelievable distances — lions resting under acacia trees, elusive leopards in the shade, graceful giraffes, and even the tiniest of birds. He knew just where to be for the most unforgettable sightings, while always respecting the animals and their environment.

Beyond his skill as a guide, MJ’s warmth and passion for what he does made this journey deeply personal. My three daughters and I felt so connected — not only to the landscapes and wildlife, but also to the people we met along the way. When it was time to say goodbye, we all cried, knowing we were leaving behind someone who had given us memories we will treasure forever.

Thank you, MJ, for making this adventure so special, and for sharing your heart and knowledge with us. This was more than just a vacation — it was a life-changing experience.
