I didn’t have to do a thing on this trek but put one foot in front of the other
5/5

I had an incredible experience doing the 7-day Machame route to climb Kilimanjaro with Kili Tanzanite Safari. I requested a quote through safaribookings.com and the quote I received via email wasn’t as professional looking as ones I got from other companies, so I was a little nervous about it not being legitimate, but I wasn’t tempted by the very reasonable price. (I got quotes from other companies that were easily 2x what I paid Kili Tanzanite, and I heard of other people getting quotes that were 3x (thousands more!) what than I paid.) My suspicions turned out to be completely unfounded, as Andrew was incredibly responsive and helpful in getting my trek scheduled and my guide, Fadhili, told me that Andrew is a wonderful guy to work for. The morning of the trek there was an issue with the hotel, so I called Andrew and he answered on the first ring. He also stored my belongings that I didn’t take on the mountain (many of which were expensive electronics) and I got them all back safe and sound. It made me very happy that I was supporting a locally owned company. Apparently, a lot of the bigger (and more expensive) companies that run Kilimanjaro treks are owned by foreigners (the biggest one is Russian owned, boooo).

I had a level of customer service that went way beyond what I was expecting for what I paid for this trip, both on and off the mountain. I am an experienced backpacker so I didn’t care about doing the trek with a company that was going to coddle me, but I’ve never had such a luxurious backpacking experience. I went solo and did a private trip, so I had a massive tent to myself. I didn’t have to carry any of my own stuff except for whatever I’d need during the day (water, layers, snacks, sunblock, etc), they heated up water for me to wash in the morning and again in the evening, they served hot drinks 3x/day, and there was really good food cooked for every meal (the soups were amazing!!) They served me enough food for 2 people on this trip and honestly, by the end of the trek, I was sick of eating because I was always so full! I didn’t have to do ANYTHING on this trek but put one foot in front of the other.

Even though I did this trek solo, there was 1 chef (Bryson), 1 guide (Fadhili), and FIVE porters (Ali, Nelson, Mayshock, Emmanuel, and Sefu) just for me. All 7 of them slept in one tent, which was also the kitchen. They were so good to me and had such good attitudes and told me multiple times how happy they were to have the work. I felt so spoiled, I had to tell them to only give me washing water once and day. And on the days it was an option, I didn’t want the chef to stop and cook lunch in the middle of the hike, I just had him pack me a picnic lunch. The only ways I noticed some other companies did things “nicer” than this company was they would have porters carry tables and chairs for mid-hike breaks (I felt this was completely unnecessary, I would rather just sit on a rock) and some had newer/nicer tents. My tent, while older, was much bigger so I wasn’t cramped at all. I only felt bad for the porters who carried it as that meant it was heavier.

The recommended tips according to Andrew were USD $10/day per porter, $12/day for the waiter (one of the porters acted as your waiter), $15/day for the cook, and $25/day for the chef. Before the trek, this felt expensive to me (even as an American who is used to tipping a lot) as that totaled $644. However, by the end of the trip, I felt that this was an insufficient reflection of my gratitude for how much work everyone did and ended up tipping more than the recommendation.

Fadhili was a great guide and spoke better English than many of the other guides I met on the mountain. He genuinely seemed to care about me accomplishing my goal and was very careful to hike super slowly to help with altitude acclimation (ive never hiked so slowly in my life but I’m sure it contributed to my ultimate success). He even did a health check at the end of every day and took my oxygen levels with a pulse oximeter.

I was so focused on summitting Kilimanjaro and suffering the altitude symptoms before the trek that I forgot the trek could actually be enjoyable. Even if I hadn’t summited (I did!), this trip still would have been more than worth it. The views and different landscapes and environments were incredible and this was a trip I will never forget.

Outstanding Safari Experience
5/5

Outstanding Safari Experience with Kili Tanzanite Safaris

I booked my safari through Safari Bookings and compared several operators. Eventually, I chose Kili Tanzanite Safaris, and it was absolutely the right decision.

Booking a safari from abroad always involves a certain level of uncertainty — especially when you have to send deposits to a company you don’t know personally. From the very beginning, Andrew made me feel completely confident and comfortable. His communication was clear, honest, fast, and very professional. He was always available, extremely friendly, and flexible, and he tailored the entire safari exactly to our wishes.

The price–performance ratio was excellent — honestly, the service we received was even better than expected for the price. Everything was delivered exactly as promised, from airport transfers to accommodation and daily planning.

Our guide and driver, Jerry, was simply outstanding. A very cool guy, extremely experienced, and highly professional. You could immediately tell that he knows the parks, the animals, and the people very well — everyone knew him. He is truly a role model for what a safari guide should be. Thanks to him, the safari was perfectly organized, relaxed, and unforgettable.

Our itinerary included Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Arusha, and we stayed at the Four Seasons Serengeti as well. Everything ran smoothly — pickups, drop-offs, timing, and changes along the way. The team was very flexible and always adapted to our preferences.

Overall, this safari exceeded all expectations. I can highly recommend Kili Tanzanite Safaris to anyone without hesitation. If you are looking for a trustworthy, professional, and fair safari operator in Tanzania, this is the one.

Five stars from me — absolutely deserved.

What an excellent trip !
5/5

What an excellent trip ! I recommend the Kilimanjaro trek with Kili Tanzanite and Andrew. We chose the 7-day Machame route, but after consulting with guide Juma, we changed it to 6 days, and it was a good decision. A huge plus is the possibility of a partial refund from the agency if you shorten the trek by one day. Guides Juma and Edward are undoubtedly the best in the world. Very friendly and helpful. We started trekking immediately after arrival (24 hours of travel and only a few hours of sleep), which took a lot of our energy, so if you have the option of staying overnight before the trek, that would probably be a better option. Also, be aware that the trek isn't easy. I recommend Diamox tablets for altitude sickness, but consult your doctor beforehand. We suffered from severe diarrhea during the trek, which made the climb very difficult, but the support of the guides gave us the strength to reach the summit. Regardless, I definitely recommend it, it's worth it. Ask the agency about additional costs, such as luggage bags and the number of people in the group, as we had probably about 11 people, and we were expecting 7-9 staff for our two. A plus is the ability to accommodate a specific diet, for example, vegetarian, so it's worth asking. Thank you for the best trip of my life. Edward, thank you for lending me your sunglasses for the summit attempt and for supporting me every day :) Juma, thank you for lending me my trekking poles, and keep practicing climbing lianas, because we have to do it again :) See you next time on the Mount Meru trek.

Private family summit Kilimanjaro Aug2025 via Machame Route
5/5

I wanted to use a local operator so I was sure I was supporting the local economy and found this company to be easy to deal with - straightforward in communication, timely in response, reliable, and efficient, and excellent value for money.

Andrew runs a family orientated business with a team of drivers, guides, chef, and porters that have worked together for a number of years and generate true warmth and empathy for each other and for their customers. At all times we felt safe, supported and prioritised which made our experience all the more enjoyable.

I cant recommend them highly enough.

Local, very helpful and flexible
5/5

We, a family with 3 young adults (19, 20, 23) and 2 adults (51 & 52), traveled for 7 days/6 nights with Kili Tanzanito Caminos. Gabriel, our driver/guide, helped us customise our camping safari optimally according to time, budget and wishes. He knew the spectacular and off-the-beaten-track spots and places (Empakai crater is amazing and the crater highlands track towards the crater even more; Longido local campsite is the real local stuff, away from tourists); he knew a lot about birds, animals and the country; and made us feel safe at all times. Masawe, our cook, managed to come up with delicious and generous meals (we never eat so much!) 3 times a day, under all circumstances (nothing beats freshly baked buns in the morning, a pick nick in the bush with a nice cool salad, or a nice comforting meal after a long drive).
Our train from Arusha to Dar Es Salaam was cancelled one hour before departure and Andrew, the manager, helped us to find a night bus on the spot. This was very much appreciated.
We warmly recommend this local operator.

Best local agency ever!
5/5

I recently had a wonderful experience with Kilimanjaro Tanzanite Safaris. Alongside three friends, I embarked on an unforgettable journey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Choosing a local agency for this adventure was one of the best decisions we made. From start to finish, we were provided with excellent service, great deals, and warm hospitality.

The guides and porters were incredibly professional and friendly, making our climb both safe and enjoyable. The team’s expertise and supportive nature ensured that we felt confident and well-prepared for the climb. They went above and beyond to make our journey smooth and memorable.

Andrew, the owner of the agency, was particularly impressive. He was very accommodating and demonstrated a deep knowledge of the region and its people. His commitment to providing an exceptional experience was evident in every detail of our trip.

In addition to the Kilimanjaro climb, we also explored the stunning Arusha National Park and the refreshing Kikuletwa hotsprings. Each excursion was well-organized and provided us with a deeper appreciation of Tanzania's natural beauty and wildlife.

One of the highlights of our trip was when Andrew took us to dine at an authentic Tanzanian restaurant. It was a hidden gem where we were the only tourists, giving us a genuine taste of local cuisine and culture. This unique experience added a special touch to our adventure, making us feel even more connected to the wonderful country we were exploring.

Overall, I highly recommend Kilimanjaro Tanzanite Safaris for anyone looking to experience the best of Tanzania. Their exceptional service, knowledgeable staff, and commitment to providing authentic experiences made our trip truly unforgettable. Whether you're climbing Kilimanjaro, exploring national parks, or seeking hidden local spots, this agency has everything you need for an amazing adventure.

My experience was the best one because I hiked with this team, which permitted me to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro.
They offer excellent service with a very professional crew, and even when I came alone, I felt like a family member.

5/5

I took my two adult children with me for a 5 night stay. The tour guide/ driver had exceptional knowledge and awareness. We even saw a cheetah chase but unsuccessful kill.
Accommodations were high end and most luxurious.
Really enjoyed the excitement of seeing the animals; followed by incredible sunsets and evening quiet time.

Amazing Experienc Designers
5/5

I loved the experience provided by Kili Tanzanite Safaris Limited. The elements of the experience design were wonderful in every way. We received terrific communication including a perfect training plan, the best possible service, and great value for the money. The Kili Tanzanite team were reliable in every way. The tour could not have been better. I was so pleased with my experience that I have referred five additional parties that have traveled to Tanzania and hiked and toured with Kili Tanzanite.
