Amazing Safari Experience at Mikumi
5/5

The Safari with Uhuru was really an amazing trip! From beginning to end we really enjoyed it.
The communications beforehand went smooth and everything was arranged as we wished.
In the Mikumi National Park we were very lucky to see so many animals, had a great stay at the Stanley’s Kopje and an even greater driver. Emmanuel is a perfect driver and guide, not only by showing all animals but also giving a lot of interesting information about the wildlife. Also, he was totally flexible with our wishes. We really enjoyed our time with him!
In total, we can highly recommend a tour to Mikumi with Uhuru.

Dangerous Dishonest Agency
1/5

We booked and partially paid in advance a 7-day safari with Uhuru Travel & Tours. When we arrived in Arusha, we met Mr. Loi, who, after asking us to literally "make him rich" with the final payment, put us on a jeep.

After few hours on the car we realized that we were supposed to go back to Arusha after a 4-day safari, against the written schedule we paid for.

We contacted Mr. Loi and the kind secretary of Uhuru Travel & Tours, Margareth, that answered Hakuna Matata, everything would have been fixed and never tried to fix the situation

When we arrived in Serengeti, where we should have spent three entire days, we were told that the next morning we would have left the next morning.

We had to spend hours at the telephone to get what we paid for, since, at the beginning, the agency did not offer compensation for the change of program, then they offered some days in Arusha park. Definitely not what we wanted and we had to receive. At the end, we were abondoned in Serengeti public camp wating an entire day for a driver to pick us up. Finally, the next day a broken and unsafe vehicle showed up without spare tyres and with a leaking tank, which had several mechanical failures and literally fell down while driving, exposing us to the risk to overnight in the middle of the Serengeti.

Once dropped in Ngorongoro we had to wait for another driver, but the authorization papers for the park disappeared with the previous driver.

So, we had an overall bad experience and we would like to advise other people who want to discover the beautiful Tanzania avoiding this dishonest agency.

“Difficulty, misunderstanding & discontent clients”

Eugenio and Elena booked with us 7 Days Camping sharing budget group safari but unfortunately their group canceled at last minute and changed the dates of travel, but we decided not to cancel their trip instead we decided to let them join a different existing 4 days group with itinerary of Tarangire NP, Serengeti NP & Ngorongoro Crater with One Night at the Camp Site near Lake Manyara, One in Seronera Camp Site at Serengeti and Last Night at Simba Camp Site in Ngorongoro Crater!

We explained the situation before departure to safari, since they have 6 days for safari they will do each park a night that is, Tanagire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and finish with Arusha National park. They agreed! A big Mistake my Operations Manager did was not to have a written agreement with them.

First day for safari they started with Tarangire overnight Camp Site near Lake Manyara and second day proceed to Serengeti via Ngorongoro. Third day they were superpose to travel to Ngorongoro Crater with the group but refuse to co-operate and decided not to join the others and choose to remain behind at the Camp site. As per our driver guides he had a “Chick” she was the one driving him crazy, whenever we asked him why he do not want co-operate he was saying he want to make her “chick” happy!!!

After long negotiation and telephone calls we decided to send another Private Jeep for only 2 of them, Due to those changes, we sacrificed ourselves as a company and added extra cost from our company account to offer them a private trip for the remaining 4 days and never wanted to disappoint them by asking them to pay any extra money for
the private trip we offered. We changed the Jeeps due high demand of them since was peak season. The arguments was to have 2 nights in Serengeti National Park and in deed they had them.

We decided to go at a loss by paying extra costs of more than $800/USD so as to satisfy them as our clients. They were very difficulty, misunderstanding & discontent clients even our drivers had hard time driving them around.

Last day of their safari at Lake Manyara we had our 2 clients supposed to be doing Lake Manyara National Park. They were also doing Camping sharing budget safari, we arranged the two to join Eugenio and Elena going game drive together to be four in total but they refused the others to join them. Then we arranged alternative Jeep hence we loss another $200.00. All in all with them was very hard and stressful but we managed to give them safari as planned with
difficulties. We do not deserve such hash review for the hard work we did for them. Despite any difficulties we promise and committed to deliver best services to our esteemed clients.

Serengeti, Lake Natron, Zanzibar
4/5

We had an amazing experience with Uhuru Travel. Our accommodations, tent camps and lodges, were very comfortable. In the tent camps we had elephants, lions, hyenas and zebras around us you could hear through the tent walls, but we always felt safe. Our driver, John, was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and found us animals like leopards feeding in the trees, or lions stalking buffalo, that we would have missed looking for ourselves. The first thing we did was forget our camera in the car that took us from the airport in Arusha to our hotel but Mr. Loy made a call to our driver and he found it and delivered it to our hotel the next morning. Uhuru Travel did a wonderful job for our safari.

Amazing Safari in Mikumi!
5/5

We were trying to find the right Safari company, and Uhuru Travel (specially Margaret) were very kind and helpful within all the process and attended all the questions or changes we wanted to make in a very kind way an fast. On the other hand, the safari was perfect. Issa, the driver picked us up in Dar Es Salaam and we spend 3 days and 2 nights in Mikumi. The room and hotel were perfect, nice rooms and delicous food. The park is amazing, we were able to see all the animals we wanted and Issa was very good in finding them and explaining all the curiosities and facts about some of the animals we saw. He was super nice and adapted to our needs. So overall, I strongly recommend to use Uhuru Travel ( I also recommended my firends), you will have a great time and for good price compared to other companies! Thank you for making this experience amazing!

VIP experience
5/5

my Husband and I travelled with Uhuru Travel for our honeymoon and have zero complaints ! Prior to departure, Margaret helped me plan every detail of the trip and was super reliable - they communicate via what’s app which makes it so easy for last minute adjustment and quick turn around. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our driver at the airport and met the owner in Arusha - the team at Uhuru really values YOUR experience and comfort. They even went as far as showing us which jeep we would be in for our safari tour, and if we wanted to swap it out for something else, we had the option.
Our overall safari experience with them was absolutely amazing. We had Mark as our guide and he got us so close to wild life ! It truly felt VIP as we discovered pockets of animals where it seemed no one else in the park had been that day! It was just us two on the tour, as promised and I HIgHLY recommend it! They also recommended the site we stayed at which we easily became obsessed with - they did an amazing job in putting this together for us !
After a few days on Safari, we landed in Zanzibar for some rest. The team again was diligent in checking in on us to ensure we were doing well and if we needed anything ! Very consistent.

Thank you Uhuru for a wonderful Trip!!

Amazing Tanzania, super Uhuru!
5/5

We made a great choice when we selected Uhuru Travel for our Safari in SELOU Reserve. Mr Abdallah was super till the beginning, really easy communication, fast and immediate answers to all doubts and requests. Everything was perfect, starting from our arrival in Dar Es Salaam, Abdallah and Uhuru staff take care of us for all logistics. Thanks to that our experience (with 2 children) was safe and perfect. We recommend SELOU Reserve because its a great place to live the real wildlife, it's a game reserve and not a National Park and thanks to this you can better enjoy the Safari. We made a 3dys Safari with Game Safari + boat Safari + walking. We enjoyed alot all 3 types! Thanks again to Abdallah for this experience and hope to come back again in wonderfull Tanzania. Hakuna Matata!

Excellent 3-day safari experience in a picturesque jeep for us four
5/5

There's a lot of competition when looking for safaris, but Uhuru stood out with their pricing, itinerary, details, and accommodations. We loved every second of our safari to Mikumi National Park and were so glad that Uhuru helped us. They were responsive through email and coordination on the day of our pickup. The jeep was perfect for the four of us, spacious and all to ourselves, with water provided and lunches during the day. Our driver was great and very knowledgeable. When we came upon the lions on the third day he let us spend as much time as we wanted watching them. We saw so many animals, four out of the big five, even a leopard and lions with 6 cubs! This park was great for a quick safari from Dar es Salaam and transportation was provided in each direction. With traffic the trip was more like 7 hours, rather than 3-4 as originally stated, but we were comfortable and watched the villages pass by. They suggested we stay at Stanley's Kopje, which was absolutely amazing with views of a watering hole and truly embedded in the park. I would gladly recommend Uhuru to anyone looking to safari! Thanks to the team and our driver, Endrick! I can't wait to go on another safari.

Good value for money but chaotic communication
3/5

I booked a 7 day Safari to Tanzania.
Presales communication was promptly.
We agreed on travel plan.
Pickup was waiting for me at the airport.
That’s where the communication broke down. The original plan was changed with the night before notifying me that I have to be ready for travel instead of a day later.
Safari driver seems very inexperienced especially when compared to the second one when I changed cars half way through.
I had to talk to the driver to get the last 2 days rearranged since his itinerary didn’t match up with the trips I booked.
Eventually I covered all spots I wanted to go to but my 3rd and last driver didn’t even know I had to be dropped off in a Arusha again.
I also have to contact multiple people to get the drop off at the airport arranged which was part of the package.
The office in Arusha doesn’t exist (shown on their webpage). Another travel agency on that road never heard of them. It is a single person without office who is in Arusha.

Summary:
Price was good. At the end we covered every location. The driver can be a hit and miss.
Once you paid the communication becomes difficult.
Be ready to be proactive and check everything at least once yourself.
