Our Story
Alia Adventures is the realization of a lifelong dream by Ruth Jepchumba, a young woman who turned her childhood passion into reality in 2024. Her story begins back in her village, in the small town of Talek, right on the edge of the legendary Masai Mara. Growing up among golden plains, roaming wildlife, and the gentle rhythm of Masai life, Ruth’s fascination with nature blossomed early. Watching safari jeeps pass by each day planted a quiet yet powerful dream: not just to witness these wonders, but to share them with the world.
Driven by this passion, she pursued a Bachelor of Education Science at Kenyatta University, believing that travel isn’t just about places; it’s about understanding them and telling their stories in ways that spark curiosity and respect. After graduating, Ruth began her career in the safari industry as a guide in the Mara, where sharing the land of her childhood with guests from around the world felt like coming full circle. Her dedication and local insight led her into lodge operations, where she discovered a passion for guest experience and team leadership. Over the years, Ruth has worked across Kenya’s most iconic reserves, blending her cultural roots with her commitment to delivering unforgettable, ethical safaris. Today, she continues her mission through Alia Adventures, creating journeys that honor both people and planet.
Drawing on years of guiding and operational leadership, Ruth put together a team of passionate and highly trained professionals, each bringing deep expertise, local insight, and a shared love for East Africa. She ensured that every member of Alia Adventures blends heartfelt storytelling with the highest standards of service, transforming each safari into an experience that feels authentic, safe, and unforgettable. Each team member brings a minimum of three years of experience, while our most seasoned tour guide has spent over 15 years in the field, and our Events Manager contributes 12 years of international experience organizing high-end events in the USA.
Today, our team includes dedicated tour consultants, elite safari guides, and a management group shaped by decades at respected brands like Serena Hotels, Sarova, Four Seasons, and Kichwa Tembo. Proudly people-first and inclusive, with 60% of leadership and staff being women, Alia Adventures designs journeys for families, solo travelers, couples, and women-only groups. Based in Nairobi and operating across Kenya and Tanzania, we craft safaris that balance comfort, adventure, and cultural depth.
At Alia Adventures, we don’t just take guests to see wildlife; we invite them to walk through village markets alive with color, sit with elders who share stories passed down through generations, learn traditional crafts from local artisans, and experience daily life beyond the safari trail. Each journey is carefully designed to offer a true sense of place, where nature, culture, and community come together in meaningful connection.
Our signature Women-Only Shared Safari departs annually from December 22nd to January 2nd or 3rd, offering a safe, empowering, and enriching group experience across Kenya and Tanzania; blending wildlife, culture, and genuine connection. At Alia Adventures, we live by our simple promise and guiding belief: To travel is to live. Every safari we design carries the untamed, warm spirit of East Africa; wild, welcoming, and unforgettable.
