Capetivated was founded by Marc Booysen, a registered Western Cape tourist guide and passionate adventurer with a lifelong love for travel and the outdoors. Originally from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, Marc spent much of his childhood exploring destinations such as Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, the Breede River, and Cape Town with his family. His passion for health, fitness, nature, and adventure later led him to study Exercise Science at the University of Stellenbosch, a town where his family roots stretch back generations and which still feels like home today.
Marc’s journey has taken him around the world. In 2011, he was nominated for South African Adventurer of the Year by Outthere Magazine. These experiences shaped his appreciation for authentic, meaningful travel and inspired the creation of Capetivated — a company built around sharing the beauty, culture, hidden gems of the Cape through personal and flexible private tours.
Marc lives in Somerset West with his family, continuing to explore the trails, coastlines, wine routes, and lesser-known corners of the region that inspire many of Capetivated’s experiences. His vision is simple: to share the authentic beauty of the Cape and beyond through thoughtful, customized travel experiences that create genuine connection and lasting memories.
