Great Rwanda Experience
5/5

Had a wonderful experience in Rwanda with the 2 day gorilla tour arranged through rwandagorilla.com. Due to limited time, I was only able to spend 2 days in Rwanda, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Nicolas responded to all questions and scheduled everything per requests. Our guide, Chris, was personable, accommodating and quite knowledgeable. He picked us up at the airport and took us on a tour around Kigali and to the Genocide Memorial (very well done) and the "Hotel Rwanda" before heading toward Volcanoes National Park where we stayed at the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Chris picked us up the next morning and took us to the park headquarters and arranged for us to be assigned to a great gorilla family. Our trek experience was nothing short of amazing! A definite must do. I had shopped around and the prices were better than competitors. Our tour included the gorilla permit, our hotel (full board), and two days of transportation with Chris who demonstrated extensive knowledge of not only in depth details of the history of Rwanda, but information about the hopes and challenges for Rwanda's promising future. Back to the airport in perfect time for our evening departure. In a very short time I learned a lot about an amazing place. Would be happy to return and would use Gorilla Trek Africa again.

Nicholas was very helpfull in every way and arranged for a perfect trip in all aspects. He answered patiently all my questions and emails very quickly with helpfull answeres and information.
On the airport I was met by my driver / guide Chris who were equally helpfull and had a thouroughly good knowledge of everything from Rwandas history to its culture and animals.
If I get the opportunity I most certainly will use Nicholas and his company again and I will have no trouble of asking for Chris as my driver once again as well.

I recommend Gorilla Trek Africa for all its worth.

This company is Excellent in All Ways: Safety, Culture & Knowledge
5/5

This company is truly Excellent in every way: good communicators both in email and in person, attentive to our needs, very comfortable vehicle, safe driver/guide, informative about culture and naturalist information, and great itinerary! Our guide Rogers was fantastic: very knowledgeable and so patient and kind with all our questions. We were in Rwanda and Uganda in early November for a 6 day tour. We originally planned to travel to only in Rwanda, but Bill Williams - the US representative suggested going to Uganda to see the gorillas there as well and am so glad for this recommendation. We were only in Rwanda for 2 days (and definitely could have stayed another day there, beautiful country and the genocide sites were truly worth visiting). But we loved Uganda as well. Both gorilla tours were excellent and was good to see them two times since the two experiences were quite different and both magical. We spent the last day with the chimps which was also incredible. I enjoyed meeting some of the local people and the Batwa in Uganda. We had a glitch with luggage and they went the extra mile to help us. The combination of wildlife connections and cultural connections was wonderful and I'm grateful for my time in both countries.

I can't say enough praise about Gorilla Trek Africa. Nicolas is prompt and professional in coresponding. Our guide Rogers is an EXCELLENT guide! He is courteous, informative and a very safe driver. We asked him a million questions about history, present day life, the animals, etc... We learned a tremendous amount from Rogers. I've been on many other tours and haven't always has this high level of service. We had an important parcel get lost thru our Rwandair flight. Nicolas and his coworkers spent days tracking it down. If you are looking for a guide service to the gorillas, chimps, Rwanda or Uganda I would recommend looking no further and booking with Gorilla Trek Africa. You will be impressed. Oh and the gorillas and chimpanzees were amazing!

Close Encounters with Gorillas
5/5

We had booked a 5 day tour with Gorilla Trek to see Chimpanzees in Uganda and Gorillas in Rwanda. First off was meeting our Guide, Moses in Kigali. he drove us into Uganda to Kabale Forest where we stayed at Primate Lodge. Next day we were with a Ugandan ranger, who guided us to the chimpanzees which were at that time climbing high into the canopy. Later in the day, they came down where we were able to follow them to a new site. Their calls are loud and spine-tingling. We had good views of them and returned to the lodge to find another chimp grazing right there. Next day was a drive into Rwanda to le Bamboo lodge. Bright and early we were trekking up a volcano (10,000 feet), taking us over 3 hours of walking up the mountain, where we found the Gorilla family of Mufunza, an enormous silverback. We spent time with them, while they grazed, babies played, and they just relaxed at times just 5 feet away. Mufunza did 2 bluff charges to assert his dominance, which were breathtaking. A great experience. Final day, we did a morning hike to see Golden Monkeys, which we found on the forest floor eating bamboo shoots. Cute monkeys, and a nice short day after the big Gorilla experience (though you wish you could go again). Finally, it was back to Kigali to fly out again. Well run tour by a respected and solid company. Recommend Gorilla Trek Africa to others who consider seeing Mountain Gorillas.

Amazing 'Bucket List' Adventure
5/5

What an amazing experience! Nicholas was very helpful during the planning phase. Our driver and guide was Chris who did a great job. He was very informative and accommodating. The drive out to Volcanoes National Park was breath taking and the accommodation and food near the park was really good. The hike up to where the gorillas live was very strenuous and not for the faint of heart. If your hiking abilities are not strong, then the park guides can put you on an easier hike where they know the gorillas may be at a lower level. The one hour spent with our gorilla group is something that will stay with me forever. Sitting down just a few meters away from a 600 pound silver back is beyond words!! Kudos to Gorilla Trek Africa for creating this wonderful experience.

Magnificent! Educational and exciting.

Nicholas was great in organizing our 4-day tour in Rwanda. I highly recommend The Flame Tree in Kigali for a quick overnight beforehand. Eric and Enos were guides for our 10 person group of friends, and we can't over stress how fabulous and well-informed they both are. Rwanda is beautiful and at present a shining example of a nation prospering under good leadership. There is not a scrap of litter on any street or property, and the whole country seems to be under cultivation. The concept of National forgiveness in the wake of the genocide is something to behold. The Gorilla View Lodge in Volcanoes Natl. Park is outstanding in all ways. We loved the staff and grounds where birding was exceptional. Bravo Gorilla Trek Africa!
