The trip of a lifetime!
5/5

Everything from planning to communication to the actual safari tour itself was top of the line! The camps were very well set up, comfortable, and well run - the staff exceptional. Out assigned guide, Harrison, was congenial, knowledgeable, took care of our every need and made sure we saw (close up) all the wildlife. And Gibbs Farm - The icing on the cake! The gardens, the accommodations, the restaurant - fabulous! The best vacation ever!

This was an outstanding trip from the moment we booked until we arrived back home. Every question was answered quickly and the preparation information was spot on. This company is unique in that the have 12,000 acres of land leased from the Government home of the Masai. For this Thomson provides a hospital and school also running programs to empower women who have no source of income. Only Thomson guests have access to the land and their safari camp. That alone was worth choosing this company. A wonderful cultural experience with animals galore. We traveled to 3 camps throughout Tanzania seeing the Big 5 and ending with 3 nights at Gibbs Farm. An experience not to be missed! Our guide during the safari, Babu was the best. He never missed a question, of which there were many and nothing was too much trouble. We hated to say goodbye to him! We would highly recommend Thomson to anyone that is looking for a unique and memorable safari where animals and culture intertwine to give a full picture of this beautiful country and it’s people.

Trip of a lifetime!

My family and I had an amazing time on our Thomson Safari. This experience fully exceeded every expectation I had. We really appreciated how this safari was organized: the camps were better than some hotels we’ve stayed at – the service was personalized and so hospitable, and the food was delicious. Plus it was such an adventure to have stayed in the middle of the Serengeti!

The wildlife did not disappoint, we saw the Big Five and way, way more. More lions than we could count, giraffes galore, herds of elephants... you name it. It fulfilled every dream I ever had of seeing these animals in the wild since I've been a kid. Tanzania is packed with jaw-dropping nature at every turn! We have treasured photos of it all, but the part that will stick with us forever is the people. We loved talking to the staff at each camp and getting to know them, meeting the children at the school and sitting on their class was such a special moment for our whole family, we also loved meeting the Maasai and learning about their culture – everyone was so warm and hospitable, it was a beautiful experience.

Our guide Nasibu was outstanding! He spotted animals we never would have, some were far away and some were a mere feet away hidden in the grasses! He is so skilled and knowledgeable in not only in terms of the wildlife, but he also kept the perfect balance of our group of photographers, birders and kids. That's a masterclass in guiding!

Thank you, Thomson Safaris, this trip did what we hoped: gave our daughter a peek at life in Africa and countless moments that will stay with us forever; we are so grateful!
