Better than expected.
5/5

We have been very lucky in two ways -- the unpredictable May weather turned out very nice all three days of our safari, and secondly we saw more animals and at closer distance than is common. I credit our guide, Harun, with the latter. Let me give you an example of what an good guide can do: At one one point he recognized one of the several black dots about a km away as a rare black rhino, and moreover he knew what the rhino was thinking -- namely he wanted to cross the road near where we were; so we just waited for him.

Our "group" had just my wife and me, and Mama Savana organized the trip specifically for our needs. They provided hotel, meals and transportation starting and ending at the Arusha airport. The hotel they booked for us was embarrassingly luxurious, but it was during low season, when hotels were mostly empty. I would describe all the meals as western, not Tanzanian, more specifically in the English style. Food was very good and service was over-the-top.

They took excellent care of our group of 13 people ages 60 years to 81 years for eight days.

We had two guides from MamaSavana who were sub contracted by Intrepid, Allan and Amenities. They went over and above to make our stay in Tanzania spectacular. For example, one day it was very clear and Allen changed our day to go to The Cradle of Civilization so we could be guaranteed to see the site without rain or fog. He had to phone to our camp and rearrange lunch. One of our party became quite ill and even after a long day on our game drive Allen drove the lady and her partner around 45 minutes each way to the closest clinic. Both Allen and Amenities were excellent in naming all the plants, animals and birds we saw.

Perfect from booking to finish! 100% recommed Mama Savana
5/5

We had a fantastic time on our safari. From requesting a quote from Mama Savana and getting in on the same day from Alex by email and getting to ask questions and clarifying all points we had via whatapp immediately plus help booking our international flights, to going on the actual safari guided by Allen, that was patient, friendly, knowledgable and caring amongst many other adjectives we can give him, we felt at home and part of the family. They both made sure we got the best time and saw all wished for. We did and saw... the big 5, the big 9! Was amazing.

An excellent safari with our guide Harun
5/5

We have just returned from a 5 day safari in Ngorongoro and Serengeti which surpassed our expectations We saw the 'Big 5' at pretty close quarters as well as numerous other animals. Our driver/guide, Harun, seemed to have a sixth sense as to where we would find animals.
The accommodation, both the tented and the lodge were extremely comfortable providing really tasteful food and the staff were amazing. You felt you were welcomed as friends.
We cannot recommend highly enough

amazing 7-day safari in Kenya & Tanzania with the best company
5/5

As you know , there are hundreds of companies operate safari , but what I would say , Mama savana is absolutely the best one.
After a long time dream of Africa , my wife and I decided to make the dream come true. We built a 2 couple team with our friend and his wife. This is our first time to be in Africa , our bucket list include: to take photos with animals on the MT. Kili background, to see the landscape of endless savanna, to witness great migration and wild killing. As our holiday isn’t ample, how can we realize this list? Mama savana helps come true.
We took a 7-day safari, the beginning was from Nairobi airport. When we arrived, George, our Kenya guide, was there early and welcome us warmly. He took us to Amboseli ,then Namanga border. It was a short but unforgettable tour. We saw the animals on the background of Mt. Kili, it was the picture I imagined and dreamed ever. We also saw the male lion, through he was old, stepping in the sunset with dust, toward his wives, how awesome he was! George accompanied us still we cross the Tanzania border, He is really a caring man, He was always glad to tell us about Kenya, about animal and what we interest. Through it’s only a short time, when we say goodbye, we all miss him.
In the Tanzania side, our guide/leader was Amani, an experienced and humorous guide. He took us to Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. We had seen the big 5, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, crocodile, Flamingo etc, Amani was a magician, whatever we want, he always showed us. Migration, wild killing, even mating (we had witness lion and zebra mate closely, it’s a very special experience ),all these amazing scene was vivid in my eyes. Amani was a kind guide, he always said “if you want to take photos, just say Amani, then car stopped”. And more, he was a excellent leader. He set the pace on safari, he knew when you can or you should have a brief without missing anything, he told you animal behaviour when you were enjoy your photo work, he would also interrupted your repeated photo works like zebra, gazelle, wildebeest, etc. and suggest you”let’s see something new”. He made you enjoy your safari and experience all things happen in this wild world during your short holiday, and you didn’t even feel a little tired.
People live in modern society maybe worry about the environment in animal kingdom. Just don’t worry and trust Mama Savana’s arrangement, condition of accommodation here is no worse than in your world, and much more special. You can sleep on a queen size bed, have a shower in hot water, view the landscape of endless savanna in your room. Even more, the food is beyond imagination, enjoy your delicious food, meat and beer, then forget the weight you gained.
Maybe there are companies operate higher standard safari with higher standard price to let you experience luxury. Mama Savanna let you experience raw animal kingdom in most comfortable way with reasonable price. They show you what the true animal kingdom is like and the animal kingdom never be luxurious.
Unforgettable memory, Mama Savanna Safari, highly recommend.

Amazing experience with an exceptional guide.
5/5

We had an amazing experience with Mama Savana. In the lead up to our safari, they were very prompt and responsive to all our queries. We were fortunate to have Harun as our safari guide. I'd say what made our safari special was 50% the animals and 50% Harun. He had the eyes of a hawk and the brain of David Attenborough. His love of animals was contagious. We got to see three lion hunt fails and on the last day, we saw a pride of lions take down a buffalo. We saw a lazy leopard barely notice a family of warthogs graze beneath his branch. We saw a herd of 50 beautiful elephants emerge from nowhere. We were expecting much more primitive accommodation, but the lodges were as comfortable and welcoming as any high end hotel. If I could have my time again, I'd spend a 3 days (instead of 2) in the Serengetti, but the safari itself was about as close to perfect as you could get.

Excellent service
5/5

From the moment we entered Tanzania, we were well looked after by Team Mama Savana. During the ascent of the Kilimanjaro as well as during the safari we had very competent and nice guides, who took care of us very much. On the whole trip we met friendly people without exception. I highly recommend Alex and his team from Mama Savana. Mama Savana helped to make the farewell from Tanzania difficult. I return!

Exceptional customer service that goes above and beyond and leaves longlasting memories
5/5

I'm not really sure where to begin, I couldn't have asked for better customer service from the moment we sent our initial request to post-safari check-in!

We had organised a last minute trip to tanzania giving Alex and the team less than 2 weeks to organise a 3 day safari tour and flights to suit our needs and budget. Needless to say it was a tough ask to get everything confirmed including accommodation availability with the upcoming christmas holidays but not only did they deliver they did everything with a smile also!

Alex was a great communicator and kept me in the loop at every turn (even when things were proving more difficult than initially thought), he gave us a number of options for different locations for tour and then gave us his honest and realistic recommendations about what to see to make most of our limited time.

We ended up visiting Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater on the 3 day tour in a private vehicle. Everything was smooth from pick up at Arusha airport by Mike (our tour guide) and his fellow colleague (sorry i forgot her name!), explaining the itinerary, answering any questions we had about the local culture, packing in as much as we could see in the time we had, clean vehicle, great accommodation, excellent picnic food for day trips, safe driving and comfort. I could go on and on about the great experience we had!

We managed to see 4 of the big 5 thanks to Mike's expert driving skills including 3 black rhinos! We were able to get close to so many animals and never felt we were in danger. I really believe it is so important to have the right tour guide and Mike was definitely that and so much more for us!

Special thank you again to Alex, Mike and the entire Mama Savana team! Your professionalism, kindness and willingness to give us memories for a lifetime was greatly appreciated. We were really sad when the tour came to an end and we had to say goodbye to Mike. We wish you all the best success and we will definitely see you next time we are in Tanzania!

For anyone who is tossing up whether or not to go with Mama Savana, I urge you not to hesitate and get in touch with them. My only regret is wasting so much time looking at different operators when I needn't have worried and Mama Savana were definitely the best ones for the job!

Karibu sana!

Quick and flexible organization and excellent guide
5/5

Communication with the manager Alex was quick and pleasant. He irgsnized our private safari in a very efficient and professional manner. The guide Allen had incredible sharp eyes to spot lots of animals so we could see the big five and much more then we had hoped for (as animals move freely and nothing is guaranteed). In addition, Allen gave us a lot of information, answered every question, was fun to be with and also showed his intercultural intelligence and sensitivity.
We had the best time and enjoyed it so much! Thank you!
