A journey to remember
5/5

In December 2017 me and my family made a trip to Uganda. Of course we chose Mamaland Safaris as our tour guide. We had Mamaland as well on our first trip to Uganda & Tanzania about 7 years ago. I can guarantee you, when I am going to visit Uganda again, I am definietly going with Mamaland Safari. The guides knows the areas, they know the people and they are very flexible. Is there anything you would like to do that is not on the schedule? Then Mamaland will most likely fix it for you so that you will have the ultimate experience. The guides are very friendly and after the trip you're guaranteed to have met new friends.

If you are traveling to east Africa, make sure you pick Mamaland Safaris!

Mamaland provided us with a truly unforgettableexperience
5/5

Mamaland's website looked vary interesting and did it's job to bring me in as a customer. Though not the least expensive offering, it was well worth it. The accommodations were excellent: Clean, comfortable, and generally well maintained.
The Safari itself was really made by our guide. He consistently demonstrated his highly customer focused view of his job. Always ready to answer a question or point our something interesting, he was truly wonderful.

I would not hesitate to recommend Mamaland to others and will certainly consider a return trip.

Excellent experience of Masai Mara and Uganda!
5/5

Having researched several possibilities for a Kenya/Uganda safari, we chose Mamaland because of the prompt detailed response and the price. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed a 15 day Masai Mara/Uganda safari (including chimps and gorillas). The whole experience was wonderful. We saw more than we expected - the big five but also The Migration in Kenya! The chimp and gorilla trekking are highly recommended. It's hard to put into words that moment when you are standing a few feet from a silverback! We opted for budget- moderate accommodation and in fact most places were much better than we'd expected. The food was fine and as a vegetarian, there were no problems as there are a lot of vegetables and eggs. We had two different guides (which wasn't what we'd expected) but it worked well. Both Ahmed and Moses were brilliant! We were well looked after and both guides made sure that we saw as much as possible in the time we had. Be aware that your guide is with you for the whole day (including meals) - this is a great way to get to know them and your chance to ask questions about what you've seen and what you're expecting to see. Some of the drives were long but that's how you see so much of the country and how people live day to day. Aside from the animals and birds, we enjoyed walking around the villages where we stayed. We took the opportunity of going on walks with the local guides at the places where we were staying - they explained the natural environment and also introduced us to locals who explained their way of life - try to take a few crayons/ balloons for children. We visited two schools - it was fascinating to see how people are trying so hard to provide a basic education.
We had a couple of breakdowns with the vehicles - but locals seem to be able to fix things quickly and this was an experience in itself - another chance to wander around and take in what's going on day to day!
If you get a chance to go white water rafting in Jinja - go for it! I was reluctant but it was an experience of a lifetime.
We changed a couple of the accommodations (which in hindsight was probably a mistake). Go with what the professionals recommend - you'll love it!

Amazing honeymoon - Uganda Tanzania - 3 weeks private tour
5/5

Contacted Tony from Mamaland after a positive reference from my brother and reading only but positive reviews about them online .. and yeah they're amazing , they gave us the honeymoon we've dreamed of !!

Honestly, looking back now, we would do exactly the same honeymoon: same company, same route, same accomodations, ... not change a thing ! That says it all, no?

Tony is a fantastic, warm, friendly, flexible and passionate tour-guide, bird-lover and football-addict with an astonishing knowledge of nature and culture, not only from the countries they offer tours for, but also from many other countries in the world !

The contact through mail went very fluent. Tony proposed a route based on our interests and available days and we were able to adapt both the route as the accomodations, based on things we've read online and from other tours.

Of course, Tanzania (Ngorongoro and Serengeti) has amazing NP's, unique in their type and is a must see! But Uganda as a country has suprised us very positively as well, especially the people's hospitality and the variation of activities and sights throughout the country (rafting on the Nile, seeing the big 5 in Murchison Falls, doing walks with birds and monkeys in the crater area, seeing the gorilla's in Bwini, etc etc). Yep, a true undiscovered pearl!

Thank you Tony for organising it all and thank you Charles and Hussain for guiding us around !

Cheers,
Joachim and Loes

Uganda!!
5/5

I wanted to travel to Uganda for Gorillas, it was very difficult for me to get a fair budget since I was travelling alone... I contacted Mamalandsafaris and from the first reply I saw positivity as I started getting profession advise on how I could get the trip smoothly done to identify with my interests like cats, primates, gorillas and birding.,
I had several communication with Tony and the turning point was when he offered to find a group to join. Finally I joined 2 others making it still private with the two girls..
My trip was made possible after getting the right budget and someone I was exchanging mails with becoming our Guide... Tony has mastered his country and during our 15 days, instead of a safari it was a journey with the most wonderful experience. Tony connects well with the people we met in restaurants, lodges, rangers and in local villages he bonded us to homes and families! The safari was booked mainly for big mammal and Gorillas but we got more than what we paid for, a real nature lover and a fantastic birding guide with deep knowledge in the ecology, sounds, habitats of the birds in Uganda! every break we had he opened our eyes to the surrounding. The accommodation was a mix with hot shower, good location more than our expectations. He is very flexible helping to plan the day with the most of possibilities.. He is a joker, fun all the time. At the end of the trip he helped me visit the Nyirangongo crater in Congo. I would recommend Mamalandsafaris to anyone planning a visit..

An excellent tour company
5/5

We used Safari Bookings when we searched for tour operators with office in Uganda and who had budget tours. We contacted 40-50 of them but we decided that only a handful of them were of interest to us. We wanted a reliable company with membership in AUTO, active on Facebook with many likes, which also had a good webpage and a lot of good reviews on TripAdvisor. Two of the companies gave us good prices, Mamaland Safaris was one of them. We decided to use Mamaland Safaris since they were a little cheaper. We are from Sweden and we found out that Anna, the owner's wife who we had been in contact with, was also from Sweden which was very reassuring. Another reason to why we selected Mamaland Safaris was that we didn't have to send the safari payment from Sweden for the 3-days Murchison Falls safari since it was a budget safari. We could pay when we arrived to Uganda a couple of weeks before the safari started.

We booked a budget safari which didn't include an air-conditioned car, we maybe had to spend the first night in a lodge-tent and the last night we should sleep in a dormitory. Anna told us however that she would try, if possible, to get us a safari car with air-conditioned and a cottage the first night. We ended up with a really luxury safari. We got an air-conditioned car. Our guide and driver, called Richard, was very nice. He had been working as a guide during 11 years and spoke very good English. We spent the first night in a lovely, and in our opinion very luxury lodge, called Heritage Safari lodge. We should sleep in a dorm at Budongo Eco Lodge the last night but we were the only people who spent that night there so we probably got their best cottage instead. Everything was so good.

Our guide, Richard, fetched us at our hotel in Kampala early in the morning the first safari day. The first thing he told us was that his wife had given birth to a girl that night. He couldn't be with her since he had to be with us three days. That is a really reliable guide, don't you agree!

Richard gave us a really lovely and unforgettable safari. The first day he parked the car five meters from seven lions which rested in the shadow of a small tree and that was only the beginning of our perfect safari.

We of course really recommend Mamaland Safaris and we would use them again if we return. I better say when we return since Uganda is a very lovely country.

Everything we dreamed of
5/5

When we started planning our trip to Uganda, we asked many places. We chose Mamaland Safaris because of the rapid, positive and competent answers we got. And we chose right!
We saw everything we had dreamed of - and more. We saw mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, tree-climbing lions, shoebill, giraffes, hippos, elephants and much more.
We enjoyed it all in safe, inspiring and amusing company of our always caring driver and guide Paul.
Thanks to him, everything went as desired. all practical isuses he had mastered, so we could concentrate on enjoying and experiencing animals, humans, nature and culture of this beautiful country.

Professional company, experienced guide, attention to customer's needs.
5/5

They were extremely serious and professional. I had to cancel the trip last minute and they were flexible to reschedule it the following weekend. As for the safari program they had their own proposal but happy and flexible to adjust to my needs (if you say you want to stay in a different hotel or do additional activities other than those proposed by them it's no problem). The guide was experienced (former park ranger) and always happy to answer questions about animals, the country, the culture ecc. He was also very helpful, proactive and practical.

Great birding safari
5/5

I spend one of the best hollidays of my life in the safari called "Uganda birding Paradise". This safari consists in 15 days visiting some of the most important hotspots for birding in Uganda: Mabamba swamps, Lake Mburo, Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth Park, Semuliki, Budongo Forest, Kalinzu Forest, Murchinson Falls, etc. I travelled by most of the southwest and western part of the country and I visited several kind of hábitats: swamps, Savannah, forests, etc. I sighted more than 420 bird species, with very interesting findings, like the shoebill, the African Green broadbill, the Black-casqued Wattled hornbill, the Crested Barbet, the Ruwenzori batis, the Papyrus gonolek, the Grauer's Swamp-warbler, etc In addition, I also observed more tan 40 species of mammals, including gorillas, chimps, lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos, elefants, giraffes, etc. I can hardly imagine a better place in the world to see more biodiversity in a short time.

I was guided in all my journey by Tony and Paul. Two outstanding field guides and even more outstanding persons. I am sure that part of my excellent experience in Uganda was thanks to their company and help. They arranged all the accomodations, meals, permisons and excursions.

In sum, I strongly recommend to anyone to visit Uganda with mamaland safaris. You will not be dissapointed.
