Well-organised, affordable, very experienced guide, overall delightful!
5/5

We did an 8-day trip with Mamaland Safaris in December 2019. The reason for choosing the company was because of the good reviews they already had. From the beginning, Anna and Edrisa were most helpful in planning the tour, and were always quick in responding to emails and really tried to accommodate all our interest and needs.

We had Donna as our guide, and in all my travels, I haven’t met a guide as friendly, professional, and informed as him. He was a very good and safe driver, with a lot of experience. The car we had was always in good condition despite the tough terrain (which Donna referred to as a ‘Ugandan’ massage) that we had to sometimes drive through. We visited the chimps in Kibale, QENP’s Kazinga Channel and Ishasha sector, mountain gorillas in Mgahinga, crossed into Rwanda, to visit Volcanoes NP, fish on Lake Kivu, Nyungwe NP before returning to Kigali to end that part of the trip.

At every location and even for the border crossing, Mamaland had made sure all the paper work was in order, and the reservations were made accurately, so we had no problem whatsoever. We stayed in a variety of accommodation, but all of them were clean, well situated, and with friendly staff. For example, Isunga Lodge just west of Kibale, where we stayed the after chimp-trekking was the best place we stayed in during our whole trip in East Africa- the views were spectacular and the food was amazing.

Our only negative would be the fact that at some places where we stayed, the menus were always too Westernised, and with few options to try the local food. But when we told Donna about this, he made sure we were able to try the local food everywhere we went. His experience as a guide made sure that he was able to read the clients, understand what their interest and needs were and accommodate it within means.

All in all, the trip was worth every penny…and we can’t wait to go back to Uganda to explore its culturally diverse north with Mamaland and Dona as our guide.

excellent, perfectly prepared safari with a very competent guide Nathan
5/5

Mamalandsafaris did not let us down for a moment. Our 7 days on safari will stay in our memory for a long time. Contact with the agency from the moment of booking until the end perfect. Everything is clear and legible. Our guide Nathan will rise to the challenge. He was very helpful and competent. We saw a lot of animals, and above all gorillas in Bwindi NP, lions, leopard, chimpanzees and many more. Our lodge was very clean and comfortable. We recommend Mamaland with a clear conscience. If we return to Africa it's only from Mamaland.

Fantastic Uganda Birding Tour
5/5

Mamaland provided an excellent 2 week birding holiday in Uganda. We had a brilliant knowledgable guide in Tony who was incredibly hard working and great company along with Ibrahim our highly skilled driver who both made every effort to ensure we had a memorable and happy trip. We visited 7 national parks in the most beautiful landscapes and adding the support of expert local rangers we were able to see almost 500 bird species and a long list of other amazing wildlife. Our accommodations were comfortable and we were always greeted with warmth and hospitality. Uganda is wonderful! I highly recommend Mamaland Safaris. The service was flexible, friendly, efficient and professional at all times and offered outstanding value for money. Thank you!

The most amazing holiday of my life..... excellent service, food, accomodation and experiences !!
5/5

Mamaland Safaris gave us the most amazing holiday I have ever experienced in my life. We were made to feel extremely valued from our first contact with the company when we were seeking information of tours offered. Edrisa was polite and very reliable, answering our enquires very promptly. His advice and information was excellent and made our preparations for the holiday very smooth. Edrisa and Mady, our guide throughout Uganda met us at the airport and made us feel very comfortable and confident from the beginning. What followed was an exciting and amazing 11 day tour throughout Uganda and Tanzania.... the most beautiful countries! Mady and our Tanzanian guide Khaleed were excellent and their knowledge of their respective countries was outstanding. Both men went out of their way to give us the best adventure ever. Khaleed even returned the next day after our tour had concluded and in his own time to take us to the airport. Food, accomodation and activities including Gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, Masai village visit and safaris throughout 4 National Reserves were excellent. Were else can you wake up in a jungle or a National Park with zebra, giraffes and gazelle grazing outside your room and lions roaring in the distance?? This was without a doubt the most amazing experience of my life and I would recommend Mamaland Safaris to anyone planning to visit these beautiful countries. At no stage did we feel unsafe or unsupported. Well done and thank you Edrisa, Mady, Khaleed and Emmanuel

Amazing experiences through Rwanda and Uganda
5/5

The tour was very easy to set up. Edrissa worked with us to accommodate our wishes. We had an 18 day private safari, starting in Rwanda and ending in Uganda. The guest houses, local guides, variety of activities and field experiences were all that we hoped for. Paul was an excellent driver especially on the mountainous roads of Rwanda. Golden monkeys, gorillas, lions seeping in trees and rhinos were some of the highlights. We also had the opportunity to interact with the local people and visit several schools. An unforgettable experience.

Wish I could have had longer!
5/5

Ambrose was my driver/guide for an 8-day birdwatching/wildlife holiday which Mamaland Safaris put together for me. Mamaland were very patient and amended my itinerary several times to suit my preferences. Accommodation throughout was good, food was excellent with lots of choices for a vegetarian. In retrospect, I should have stayed a minimum of 2 nights in each place we visited to allow me more time for experiencing the facilities on offer/ambience of the location but I was anxious to cram as much as possible, with as much diversity as possible, into the 8 days. Result was there was a lot of time spent travelling from place to place, on roads that were, sometimes, challenging (to put it midly!). Throughout the trip, Ambrose was an excellent ambassador for a country he truly loves and is keen to share with visitors. His knowledge of birds/wildlife was extensive and his passion for conservation was infectious. I truly could not have had a better guide/companion/friend to introduce me to the wonderful country that is Uganda.

Fantastic Gorrila trekking experience with Mamalamd Safari
5/5

I did 3 days Gorrila trekking with this company and I really enjoyed every moment of it. First they are very ORGANIZED, PROFESIONAL AND RESPONSIVE with the emails and made sure that I choose the right package from the beginning. Moses, who was my tour guide, he was very flexible and patient. He met with me at my hotel and explain the plan for the trip a day before. Along the way to Bwindi he stopped many times so I can do photo shooting. My accommodation at Mist lodge and lake Bunyoni exceed my expections and also the view from the balcony was perfect. Both Edrisa and Moses are excellent and I highly recommend Mamaland Safari!

Very good experience
5/5

We went for a 4 days safari in Queen Elizabeth NP in Uganda, it was a great experience! The safari met our expectations, the game drive was good and the boat cruise amazing. The Chimps tracking in the forest was the real plus of the proposed itinerary with respect to other offers. Communication with Mamaland was very easy and effective, they got what we wanted to do and the special points of our request. The lodges where we stayed were above my expectations. All in all, I think that Mamaland's offer was a great value for money.

Fantastic family experience - memories for a lifetime
5/5

We opted for a 5 day safari which included crater lake exploration, chimpazee trekking in Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth Park, Ishasha Park and then camping by Kachira Lake (which we added). Edrissa was very helpful and accommodating in the organising, visited us in Kampala a couple of times prior to the trip as well and very well organised. Our guide and driver Moses was excellent - great driving skills, good knowledge, and extremely professional and calm throughout the whole trip.

All the accommodation we stayed in (Isanga, Pumba, and Tipo) had incredible views, good food (especially the soups which we enjoyed a lot), and were clean. Shout out to the staff at Pumba and Tipo lodges who were so kind, friendly, and professional. We felt very looked after the whole time and think your staff are really great. The accommodation is quite eco-friendly and should showcase that more.

The actual safari was great - nature is always unpredictable but we were lucky to see lions, hyenas, amazing elephant herd and solo sightings, and snakes. The parks are beautiful. The chimpanzee trek was a real highlight and so special - we were lucky to find chimps after 15 minutes and then spent the rest of the time tracking and following them.

We had a slight issue on our return trip to Kampala with the car breaking down and we lost many hours but Moses and Edrissa dealt with it - suggestion to Mamaland management to make sure the cars are in great shape before leaving.

We travelled as a family of 5 and cannot recommend Mamaland more. It feels like an intimate family type holiday where you are well taken care of the whole time. Thank you Mamaland for the unforgettable experience!

Unreal gorilla experience!!
5/5

What a magical trip which was only made better by the guide Paul. He went over and above to support us and we felt like we were leaving a friend.
Magical experience in Bwindi to see the gorillas, a breath taking stay at Gorilla Mist camp and plenty of excitement as we opted for certain bespoke travel arrangements. Paul and Edrisa supported our unique itinerary and made sure we were as comfortable as possible. We will definitely be back for more of Uganda.

Look no further for a tour operator!
