Great 3 day safari
Following our climb up Kilimanjaro with another Company, we decided to do a 3 day, 2 night safari with Kili vikings, visiting Tarangire national park, Lake Manyara national park and Ngorogoro crater reservation area. We met Charlie in Moshi the day before the safari to settle payment and sort details. Charlie was very nice and informative, and lead us through our options for the safari since the group we were meant to go with from Moshi had cancelled. In the end we joined a couple going from Arusha, and had to pay an additional $50 to get to the airport after the safari which had previously been included in the price. We also had to pay an extra 5% to pay by card, which hadn't been mentioned in our email correspondence. So we were slightly disappointed by these extra fees, but paid them, tried to forget about them and looked forward to the safari!
On safari we had a great time and saw a huge array of wildlife. We stayed in small huts in the evening near lake Manyara at a site called panorama camp, which had excellent views. We left our bags there during the days. The hot food provided in evenings and for breakfast was good. The packed lunches could have been slightly better, but in such great surroundings it was difficult to be unhappy. Our driver was very well informed and didn't struggle with any of our questions. His English was also very good. Our only criticism was that we often had to ask questions to get information from him, rather than him offering it voluntarily. The safari car was in decent shape with new seats and water was provided throughout the trip. Each day we did a full day safari, with our driver being very good at spotting animals, as well as listening to the radio to track down the more rare sights. Highlights included cheetahs, Lions (metres away from our vehicles), Elephants and Rhinos.
After the safari we were dropped at the airport in good time to catch our flight home. Overall we had a great time, and were very close to giving a 5 star score, but felt like the experience did have room for improvement, if only slightly.

I experienced a great trip for a fair price.
The communication with our tour guide was simple and good, he knows good english. The accomodation was simple, clean and enjoyable. On the safari tour our guide asked for our wishes and always knew where to go for seeing animals.

I really enjoy!
I'm a Japanese volunteer living in Tanzania. My friends came to see me from Japan in September 2015, so we went to Ngorongoro and Serengeti for safari for 3days. I talked with Charlie about our request in advance and he perfectly organized our safari as we had expected. We enjoyed it so much.
I asked him to give us pick-up and drop-off services between Kilimanjaro airport and Moshi just few days before our safari, but he willingly accepted them. The driver picked us up on time.
In our 3day safari, one tire of our vehicle bursted but our staff (one guide and one chef) worked hard for us. Their work made us relieved so much that we're NOT familiar with outdoor activity.
I advise you to ask your guide about the detail itinerary as he didn't mention to us so much. But he explained everything we asked. And his enough knowledge about nature, wildlife and the national parks surprised us so much. He could find animals so fast!
We three all totally enjoyed the safari with Kilimanjaro Vikings! We strongly recommend you reading my review Kilimanjaro Vikings:-)
Asante sana, Charlie.

Amazing Safari 3 days 2 nights!!!
In three days,
we have been to tarangire national park, NgoroNgoro national park, Lake Manyara national park by private car.
We had never observed animals closely and carefully in our life.
You can meet the big five and a lot of flamingos.
We have caught unforgettable memories.
Thank you for giving us precious time.

Best tour operator
We went to Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro with a tour guide and a chef.
We could enjoy the tour because they were very bright and polite, and easy to communicate.
The tour guide's skill to find animals in safari was amazing(sometimes it was very difficult even we use binocular).
The chef prepared us splendid dinner with full of hospitality.
Thanks and we surely recommend Kilimanjaro Vikings to our friends.

Tough hike, amazing experience!
My husband and I climbed Kilimanjaro for our honeymoon in January 2026 with KiliVikings! We chose the 7-day Rongai route. Overall we had a great experience. We booked a group tour, but it ended up being just the two of us and the crew! From the beginning, Charlie was very responsive (even though we arrived on Christmas Day and finished on New Year’s Eve). Our guides, Goodluck and Stephan, were awesome and helpful! They respected the mountain and checked in with us throughout the day during the hiking portion and while relaxing at camp to make sure our questions were answered! The porters, chef, guides, and the entire staff were incredible! We made it to Gilman’s point, which is not the peak but was close enough!
We went at the end of rainy season so it rained/snowed every day of our hike. The mornings were usually clear and it was amazing to see the mountain as we progressed! Charlie arranged a taxi for us to get to Arusha after the hike and helped with everything we asked!
A couple of things that could have gone better/I wish we had done differently:
-Kilivikings forgot to pack oxygen, which was said to be included in the tour. I got altitude sickness during the summit night and I probably needed it but we didn’t have any.
- I wish we had looked at the route success rates before choosing a route. We picked the Rongai route and it was beautiful!!! the forest was incredible! But i think a longer climb (like lemosho) would have been better for us to acclimate.
-We did not end up taking the acclimatization day and I wish we had. Our climb ended up being 6 days instead of 7 because the guide said we likely didn’t need the extra day. We were feeling mostly good until the summit night so not our guide’s fault!
- KiliVikings recommends a 10% tip, but we got the vibe from our porters and guides that that was not at all fair. We ended up paying about a 25% tip (which was extremely deserved but a little more than we anticipated spending).
- Nothing KiliVikings could have done about this but we found it extremely difficult to eat. (The food was delicious we simply couldn’t eat because of the altitude). We live at sea level and have never been so high up so we truly didn’t understand how the altitude could impact us and the biggest hurdle was our appetite. We slept fine and for the most part we acclimated until we started the climb to the summit.
Again, overall, it was challenging, incredible, and a truly unique experience! Thank you KiliVikings!
