Outstanding
We did a 5 day safari - Nairobi-Amboseli-Lake Nakuru-Masi Mara-Nairobi.
This was just the right amount of time to see 3 different environments (mountain, lake and savanna), and all the animals.
Now having understood the driving times, I would have probably changed the order and ended in Mombasa, instead of returning to Nairobi.
Dec/Jan is a great time to come, before the rush of tourists for the migration.
Oakland service was fantastic from the second we engaged with them through safaribookings.com. The driver they provided was great - knowledgeable, funny and also understood when we just wanted to snooze and not chat on some of the long drives between Parks. We were keen to learn all about Kenyan culture, so thankfully we had Mr Henry to educate us. On the game drives, it was clear he had huge respect for the animals and their environment (when there were other drivers being intimidating and disrespectful of both).
As with everything, you get what you pay for - we mixed it up, with some standard lodges, and the last 2 night in the Masi Mara in luxury, over NYE, with a sunrise air ballon ride on New Year’s Day. Worth every penny. With Park fees so high, the temptation is to do only one night in each, which is a shame, because you don’t get enough time to enjoy some spectacular accommodation, food and hospitality.
With so many safari operators here, it’s difficult to know which to pick - I can only say that Mr Henry, our driver and Oakland have been excellent in every respect.

Our experience with Felly (travel officer) and Simon (driver and guide) have been excellent. So has been with others at Oakland. Accommodation, food, car and safaris were top notch.

Our communications with Oakland Tours was always professional and friendly, and they were receptive to all our requests, and queries, right from the start. Felly, our contact at the office, was great help in our planning and I must say, we received excellent service from her. Our group if seven were picked up from the airport, and from then on, every detail was planned and taken care of. Every detail was anticipated and arranged and we did not have to think of ANY part of the trip.. all bookings at camps, hotels and resorts were arranged and executed without any delay or hitch.
Our guide and driver, Simon, was a wonderful guide throughout and he took care to provide anything that we would need along the long drives and safaris. All in all, we had one of the happiest of experiences in Kenya.
It is an incredibly beautiful country - and there was not a single experience that was not pleasant. Highly recommend Oakland Tours.

Very attentive to our needs and organized.
I was referred to Oakland Safaris via a friend and was not disappointed - from the start the team around Felista is really responsive and serious about their services. I asked for a personalized safari to Amboseli and Chyulu Hills NP and they tailored it quickly and asked for any preferences (hiking, game drive, camping, …).
Our guide, Moses, is a very very kind soul who has been working as a tour guide for a long time and you can really tell by the way he is organised and always ahead of time.
In our experience, he will make sure to explain the schedule ahead of time and he also leaves time for suggestions or extra desires. Also he is very punctual , which seems obvious for this job but isn’t always guaranteed unfortunately.
Of course the National Parks are very pretty and offer a variety of game to be spotted.
All in all, it was a very pleasing experience and the agency is very professional and personalized to your needs.

THIS TOUR COMPANY GOES WELL ABOVE WHAT IS EXPECTED AND PAID FOR
I did a lot of research before booking this safari, finally I chose Oakland Tours and Safaris. I have no connection to this company whatsoever and have never dealt with them before.
From the first dealings with the office, I found "James" to be so very professional, I was very impressed and continued with the booking after noticing how he dealt with me. Very very straightforward and clear to understand their requirements. Straight to the point so there could be no misunderstanding on either side.
Paying for a full Safari before arriving in the country as is required is perhaps unusual for us in Europe, but the accommodation and National Park fees and all the other expenses have to be paid for in Kenya in order to ensure that your Safari accommodation is ready and all in order and guaranteed before your arrival.
Now, our tour guide Moses was absolutely exceptional.
What a kind, most professional, educated and generous spirit. I really don't know how lucky we were to be assigned Moses, from the very beginning of the tour we felt completely as if we were with a family member.................our experience with Moses was far beyond our expectations. We felt that we were with a man that was so confident, honest and fully in control of everything around him.
Never once did he try to manipulate us into a situation of buying curios, African artifacts or other such items that are sold in the rest stops and entrances to the National Parks.
It was most incredible, having travelled extensively globally, it is rare to see a tour guide that doesn't "guide" you into a shop where he is going to make a commission of some sort of object that one didn't need in the first place.
The dignity that Moses displayed in his personal integrity was amazing. He was so patient in showing us where the animals were and in going out of his way to find the animals. His knowledge of the animals and rare birds that we saw was incredible, obviously having learned all these facts and figures. We saw so many animals that I feel that I am seeing lions, zebras ,elephants, giraffes etc etc in my dreams. Far too many to mention here. Nothing was too much for Moses, I could notice that he wanted to make sure that we would go home having been on a real Safari, not just a quick drive around.
We went to Lake Naivasha National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park and Masai Mara National Park. It was the trip of a lifetime.
No doubt Moses is an enormous credit and value to Oakland Tours and Safaris. This kind of employee can't be found just anywhere and he is a real gem. I asked him if he is related to the owners of the company and he is not related to them.
We most highly recommend this company and if we are to go by the service that we got from Moses and James then I am 1000% sure you will never find anything better.
They have a Safari for all sorts of budgets, from 5 star downwards, so irrespective what what your budget is they will work with you to get you a good deal and will accommodate you.
