Once in a Lifetime Experiences - Expectations Exceeded!
5/5

My husband and I just returned from a 2.5 week African vacation which began in South Africa and took us to Tanzania and finally to Rwanda where we had the pleasure of experiencing Pinnacle Africa Safaris. We scheduled the Rwanda portion of the trip for the end as we were most looking forward to our Mountain Gorilla trek and wanted to "save the best for last". We had no idea how right we were!

Our wonderful guide, Adrian Ddungu, was the perfect fit for us personally and took the wheel (literally and figuratively) from the start to create two fantastic days which were book-ended by our arrival and departure processes. Not only was he waiting for us with a huge smile at 1:30 am when our much delayed flight landed in Kigali, he made sure we were completely comfortable before saying goodnight at the Kigali Serena Hotel and making timing arrangements for the following morning.

The next morning he met us and gave us a full briefing on what we would be doing in the coming days and also took the time to show us the various stops on a Rwanda map. Very helpful. From there we started our Rwandan adventure.

After a very emotional and interesting visit to the Genocide Museum, Adrian took us on the 3 hour trip to Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge (gorgeous!!!) to get us settled again. The drive was filled with great information; cultural and historical details as well as a lot of laughs and stories. We were immediately at home with him and truly enjoyed the time together.

The Silverback Lodge was a wonderful place to call "home" for three nights and when my husband tweaked his back one afternoon they took special care to bring several meals to our cottage; co-ordinate an in-room massage and put a wonderful fire in the fire place. The only thing I might mention as a heads up to future Silverback Lodge customers would be to prepare for what we called "mini-Mt. Kilamanjaro"...the walk from the jeep drop off to the main lobby is straight up hill and just when you think it's over - it's not. Combined with the altitude - this was definitely a big surprise. Thank goodness for the very strong porters!

Again, thanks to Adrian, we had two spots on the perfect level of trekking when we set off to find the Pablo Family of Mountain Gorillas. We had requested "low to moderate" and that's exactly what we got. The entire experience was magical and when we heard stories from others at the lodge - we know ours was even more special.

So Pinnacle....I could go on and on but I will stop here by saying thank you! We own an incentive travel company in Toronto, Ontario (Canada) and are definitely looking for the right group to share this experience with. When we find them - we will return to you!

Excellent planning and delivery. Great driver/guide
5/5

I decided to book with a Uganda-based organisation and chose Pinnacle because throughout the planning phase Claire was brilliant - quick to respond, willing to make suggestions, fine attention to detail. Our driver and guide for two weeks was Robert Bulega and he was excellent. His knowledge of birds was really good and he quickly worked out what we were trying to achieve on our holiday - and we're not easy to please, having done a dozen safaris across Africa. Robert was always there ready to do what we wanted as we tweaked our plans to suit the weather or whatever. We'd booked chimp, gorilla and golden monkey trekking and Robert (who seemed to know everyone!) made sure we got into good trekking groups. For our trek in Rwanda, we ended up just the two of us for an unforgettable experience. Pinnacle provided a heavy duty Land Cruiser and that's what you need for Uganda's dreadful roads. Very slow when the roads are good, but just the job driving up to some of the lodges.

Uganda was a very beautiful destination with many highlights.
5/5

The tour was very exciting, covering chimpanzees, gorillas and all types of other animals including tree climbing lions. The landscapes were stunning from the Rwenzori Mountains to the high mountains, equator crossings and the accommodation in all places was very good. Adrian was a really good guide and driver and communicated all parts of the trip very well. It was a delight to travel with him.
