Memories of a lifetime Trekking Kilimanjaro
5/5

We (a group of 4 students) did the 6 day Machame Kilimanjaro climb
with Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari. I was responsible for
handling the communications for the group with Lazaro and the process
was very smooth. I found him to be a very professional and straight
forward gentleman and liked him more when I met him in person at the
Kilicottages hotel the night before the climb when he introduced us to
our guides and briefed us on the climb.
The climb took us from Machame gate through the lush vegetation of
lower Kilimanjaro then the alpine moorland then the most spectacular
hike between Shira camp and Barraco Valley where we took very amazing
pics of the Kibo peak. The fifth day was exceptionally tough before we
got to the glacier. I was dizzy and vomited a couple of time due to
altitude sickness and Goodluck my guide came to my rescue serving me
with a herbal tea that made me all better. We made a go for the summit
just after midnight and we made it just in time to experience sunrise
on Africa’s highest point.
The descent was amazingly easy and we owe our accomplishment to the
care and guidance of the Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Team.
I hope come back and do a safari with them in the summer of 2020.

Safari of a lifetime
5/5

I am really happy with the Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Africa team that helped organize our excellent itinerary and allocated Shaban to guide our seven days northern Tanzania safari. I believe that he made all the difference in making our Safari a success. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and full of interesting stories that kept us entertained all through. He knew all the nice viewing points and took us really close to the animals so that we got spectacular close-up shots of the animals in their natural habitat.

The safari vehicle was also very comfortable from the alterations made to have extra padding in the seats plus good suspensions for the offroad drives in the parks. We saw lots of game and very happy to have chosen Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Africa.

Book your safari with them and you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic Climb
5/5

Upon completing my 3 months volunteering stint at a children’s home in Arusha, I decided that I was not going to leave Tanzania without climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. This was a last minute decision and I did not have a lot time to shop around so I talked to a couple of my expatriate friends who had been in Tanzania longer than I had and they referred me to Lazaro of Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Africa and boy he did not disappoint! I joined a group with 3 other climbers and initially I was a little worried that it might not turn out well but it worked out great. We each had a personal guide (Goodluck was my guide) and 3 porters assigned all under the lead of Lazaro.

The Trek to the summit was not easy as I experienced some difficulties on the third day when I started vomiting and even thought of giving up however Lazaro together with Goodluck intervened and gave me a cup of some tea and I was better in a few minutes. They also conducted daily oxygen tests on us all for our safety.

I only made it to the summit through sheer determination and motivation because I was really worn out but then watching the sunrise. I will never forget that moment, the fatigue that had been bogging me down just melted away. These are fond memories that I will carry all my life!

The service was superb!!!

I recommend Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Africa without any reservations.

Fantastic 7 day Safari with Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Africa
5/5

My family of 5 have had the most amazing time in Tanzania exploring the parks and visiting tribal communities with Shaban from Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Africa. He is a great driver and even a greater guide and we have nothing but admiration on how he treated us like royalty during the whole trip.

We had a nice time in the parks where we saw all the big 5 including the rare black rhino in Ngorongoro Crater, so may lions, elephants, wildebeest, hippos…….. We even got to ride the a hot air balloon over the Serengeti.

I cannot forget to mention the interesting encounter with the Bushmen where we got to see how they sustain their lives just by hunting and gathering.

On the last day before we flew out we got to meet the Lazaro the owner who had arranged for a farewell party at his hotel – Killicottages in Moshi.

Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Africa is a great company and we recommend them.

Beyond Expectations
5/5

We did our Kilimanjaro climb with Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Africa and they have delivered such superb service that it is beyond our wildest expectations. We had such a wonderful experience all through our climb. They are well organized that everything runs very well from the booking, payment, information such that you are well prepared by the time you are coming for the trek. Lazaro was our lead guide assisted by Tom, the porters and a resident cook just for us. He was very meticulous in our preparation ensuring that we had packed all the necessary items of clothing and equipment. I was very impressed with his vast knowledge of the terrain, animals and plants and he took time to explain about each of the different habitats in detail. Another impressive point was the health checks that included oxygen testing the oxygen levels every night ensuring that we were fit to go up to the summit.

We had a nice surprise waiting for us after the descent as they has organized a farewell party at the Kilicottages in Moshi.

I have nothing but praise for this team.

Great Kilimanjaro Trek
5/5

We just returned from doing the 6 day Kilimanjaro Marangu route with Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions Safari Africa and it has just been amazing! From our first contact I knew I was dealing with real professionals who take their work very seriously. We received very comprehensive information about the various routes; costs, level of difficulty, number of days to the summit. When we eventually zeroed in on the Marangu route the payment process went without a hitch and we received more information on the packing requirements, visas/vaccinations and other related travel information.
The eventual trek was just amazing; we were met at the Namanga border point as we were coming from a Kenyan Safari and taken to the lovely Kilicottages in Moshi. The following morning we were met our guides, porters and cook and embarked on the climb. The climb started off easily but got strenuous and difficult as we got higher and by the 5th day when we reaching the summit we could hardly put one leg forward. However thanks to the encouragement and extra care taken by the climbing party team we eventually reached the summit.
I have special thanks for the lead guide Joseph with his guides (Edward, Goodluck and Shabaan) who took excellent care of us, closely checking on our vitals. He also made sure that we had great food and lots of coffee during all the time.
We were very impressed and we have already made arrangement to return in November for a Safari and Zanzibar Holiday with this company.
Five stars for this company are not enough!!!

A great Safari adventure
4/5

The Safari was great. We had an excellent tour guide, the lodges where very comfortable and the parks we visited were stunning. We had some waiting times when entering the parks because of late payments. This is why we give 4 out of 5 stars. But it all worked out in the end. In total it was an unforgetable Adventure and we can warmly recommend Kwesa.

Kwesa is responsive, welcoming and offers fair prices in the market full of competition.
5/5

I decided to book my hike with Kwesa Tours after researching different tours, pricing and start dates. In the end I booked a private tour as no other date was suitable and picked the Lemosho Route. Total for 9 days was $2,049 USD with Kwesa. One factor that had me interested in Kwesa was that they also run a (Kilimanjaro) Orphanage on the side, and business from their tours help subsidize costs at the orphanage. It would also be convenient in the even I wanted to volunteer. Another factor was that Kwesa is very responsive via email/chat making the decision to book with them very easy for me.

My Team: At first, I was worried about doing a private tour as a single female. However, by the end of day 1 after getting to know everyone I felt more comfortable and by the end of the trip, I can say with confidence that Justice (guide), and Shaban (cook and guide in training) were amazing and really made my experience memorable. Justice loves nature and has an abundance of knowledge of the biodiversity there in the mountains making the trip a fun learning experience as well as a trip of a lifetime. I also need to recognize that the rest of the team, 5 porters, made this whole trek possible. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without their strength and help with bringing our gear, food, and utilities for the 9-day trip.

The Climb: Although I summitted, a gruelling 7-hour experience, I completed the trip in 6 days. Climbing alone doesn’t come without challenges. I found it isolating and lonely and started feeling very depressed during evenings by day 2. Although physically I felt good and wasn’t experiencing major symptoms from the altitude (until sumitting), I had no desire to eat. To be honest, I started feeling sick whenever I saw food, and I think my calorie intake was less than 800 per day. I don’t doubt that this also impacted my mental well-being.

It was hard for me to remember and retain information, and I lost the desire and motivation to track my trip on video. In my head, my only goal was to summit and get off the mountain as soon as possible. I started to ask my guide about finishing the trek earlier than planned by day 3 as I wanted to be back at the cottages end of day 6. We condensed our daily hikes but day 5 and 6 were very difficult as I only had 3 hours of sleep between those two days—but this was my decision.

Kwesa Tours: Their motto is “come as a friend, leave as family.” Edward, the owner of Kwesa, was generous and gave me an opportunity to meet the kids of the Kilimanjaro Orphanage and to visit some of the private schools in the area where some of their orphans attend. I would deff recommend this tour company, and to spend a few days with the kids at the orphanage. Keep in mind that the kids are quite young, the group I met were 3 years old or so, so it can be quite hectic. But they get excited about meeting new people and just want to play.

Amazing, made me feel like Family
5/5

If you are going to Tanzania, you MUST book with KWESA.
My experience in Africa would not have been the same without the KWESA staff.
They helped me book all my tours, gave me great deals, and the best part, they made me feel like family.
They would take me downtown to local Coffee houses, to Local Tanzanian BBQ, and would show me around their city.

Next time I go back to Tanzania, I will Call them ahead of time, just to make sure I can visit them again.
Thank you KWESA staff / friends
