Nelson was friendly, responsive and knowledgeable.
5/5

Mufasa organized a last minute tour for us to Amboseli, for a short weekend trip. They found us a beautiful camp/lodge and a fantastic guide/driver on short notice. It was good value, we saw tonnes of animals and our guide, Nelson, was so friendly, knowledgable, and easily navigated the park. So happy we went. Thank you!

The Absolute Trip of a Lifetime!
5/5

Mufasa not only surpassed all of our expectations, but we experienced a trip of a lifetime that will never be forgotten. We have been on several safaris in three other African countries with a different tour company. They were good but nothing compares to Mufasa. A friend enthusiastically recommended Mufasa to us and we did our homework talking to other companies. We wanted to visit Kenya for 12 days. The price and accommodations were better with Mufasa and included everything (except tips and drinks for lunch and dinner). We were given an extensive list on how to prepare for the trip, ie what kinds of plugs to use, not to bring plastic, how to get a visa to enter Kenya etc. It was very thorough and helpful.
We were taken care of every step of the way.
Our very kind, always positive and personable guide, Kevin, can only be described as the most knowledgeable person about every animal and park we visited. He can spot and identify over 400 birds just in Kenya alone and say instantly the complete scientific name. He explained where they come from, their behaviors, and answered all questions one can think of to ask. He has the patience of a saint.
Kevin also knows his way around East Africa without GPS. We were with him for 12 days and visited 4 National Parks. His driving skills are incredible, keeping us safe and arriving on time. He makes sure the vehicle is in tip top shape mechanically and has it cleaned nearly every day. Water is unlimited in the vehicle and chilled. Kevin knows where to stop for bathroom breaks and makes sure everyone is comfortable.
When it comes to finding animals and knowing every detail about them, we could not get over Kevin’s extensive knowledge. For example in Samburu, he found and explained to us all about the rare Grevy zebra, which are going extinct, the reticulated Giraffes, the Gerenuk, aka the giraffe gazelle, the rare Oryx and Somali Ostrich. One morning, Kevin found the perfect spot for us to enjoy breakfast with reticulated giraffes all around in Samburu. It was surreal.
Everyday brought more fascinating sightings. In Ol Pejeta, Kevin spotted a cheetah at dusk and we followed her for over an hour, the only vehicle who saw her at the time. We watched her mark her territory and look for prey for dinner. We laughed as we saw monkeys up in a watch tower following her every move as we were too. Luckily, for a wart hog, the cheetah did not see him. In Ol Pejeta we saw male lions, female lions and cubs all very close up. We visited a chimpanzee sanctuary started by Jane Goodall to rescue chimps from other countries that were orphaned or abused. We fed and pet a rhinoceros named Baraka and saw many water buffalo.
At beautiful Lake Nakuru we saw white rhinos, a lioness in a tree, zebras fighting to kick out a male from the herd and many water buffalo. Kevin explained all of the animals behavior and why they do what we observed. For example, zebra rest their heads on each other’s backs, called necking, so they can see predators from all angles as they rest.
On the way to Lake Bogoria, Kevin rescued a large 37 year old tortoise from being run over on the road. When we arrived to the gorgeous lake we saw thousands of flamingos. Kevin had bought eggs at the entrance to the park from a local family and demonstrated cooking eggs in a hot spring near the lake. We enjoyed watching flamingos eating, walking, swimming and flying. Kevin knew of a beautiful spot near a small creek under trees in which to enjoy a picnic lunch. Again, another fabulous day!
In Masai Mara, not only did we see a beautiful cheetah, she walked by our vehicle and touched the land cruiser. How Kevin knew where these animals will most likely be and where to drive so they will walk by us is beyond me.
One morning in Masai Mara, Kevin took us to where he could take photos of us standing next to a silhouette of a tree as the sun was rising. Great start! He found a lioness having breakfast eating a water buffalo. Kevin saw the male was walking away towards the hyenas who wanted to also eat the kill. The male was making sure she could eat in peace. Kevin was the only driver who knew instinctively to follow the male and we observed him walking right past us while trying to to ward off the hyenas. When we returned to the spot where the carcas was, a huge number of other hyenas were now devouring the remains, all while on lookout for the male lion. Interestingly, the female lion we observed first eating the water buffalo, was near by watching the hyenas. She was left alone by the hyenas since they knew they outnumbered her. We also saw many jackals next to the hyenas trying to eat what they could, the scraps, to no avail.
In Masai Mara we saw another pride of lions with their cubs resting. We saw a saddle billed stork, Egyptian goslings and so much more including week old giraffes, young male lions resting, slender tailed mongoose, crocodiles, elephants and many hippos. One long held dream was to spot a leopard and lo and behold Kevin spotted a female leopard. The leopard came out of the bush and walked right by us. Kevin instantly drove the vehicle where we could observe her up close for as much time as we wanted to admire her.
We saw another male lion come out of the bushes and walk right in front of us and soon after that we then saw a male leopard. The male leopard was much bigger than the female that we observed with a neck that was also different than the female’s.
I have left out so much but wanted to explain some of the highlights. At all times, Mufasa was attentive to our every need. Kevin was a skilled driver and incredibly knowledgeable about everything including plants, insects and all animals big and small. I can’t recommend Mufasa enough. I’m very happy we listened and took the advice of my friend. We plan to go back to explore more of East Africa with Mufasa. We’re all still on cloud nine over one if not the most amazing trip of our lifetime. Thank you very much Joseph and thank you Kevin!!

Unforgettable experience
5/5

I had opted for the 5 day safari tour with Mufasa, it was an unforgettable experience. Joel who was communicating with me through emails and calls made sure I had all the information. Their selection of hotels, camps and vehicle everything is perfect. Hotel locations were amazing as one of them were in the national park. Alvin was my guide for the whole tour, he was polite, well informed, absolutely punctual and would always find the perfect place to stop the van so that we would have the best spot to watch and photographt animals. He was well versed in English. Thanks to his efforts, I got to all big five and many other wildlife. He is well aware of all the resevers and park which were part of the package and drove around like a pro. He is also a good bird watcher which was an added bonus as it came handy in Lake Nakuru National Park. Vechle condition was also pretty good. Overall a Good wholesome experience.

Extraordinary Tour with guide Carlos
5/5

We have no words how we enjoyed the 7-day Samburu, Lake Naivasha/Nakuru and Masai Mara tour with Carlos. He was so professional and knowledgeable, with years of experience, knowing exactly when to go where. We've not only profited from his vast knowledge about the animals, he also provided deep insights into Kenyan culture. Apart from that, he is just a very sympathetic and good person.

Best Experience - from Planning to Vacation - Mufasa is the Safari Tour Company to Use!
5/5

For us the safari was a bucket-list item and we wanted to plan it right. There's a lot of tour operators out there, and what immediately set Mufasa apart was meeting Polly -- both her professional and polite demeanor translated well through email. Polly was the best in providing us necessary information and good advice/tips. It was helpful for us too to plan our trip almost a year ahead so we could manage budget and get any necessary items (deals on airfare, visa, vaccines, etc.) without the stress of rushing. Polly was always available for information and planning assistance in a timely manner over the course of that year and I can't say "thank you" enough - she was instrumental to our safari adventure being a success.

But it didn't end there! We were paired up with Patrick, who was an AMAZING guide for us. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and just really fun to be around. He was also very attentive to our needs/wishes, and we really enjoyed our time together. Time just flew by. We were extremely lucky to see so many animals on our safari, and Patrick was a wealth of information that supplemented our enjoyment of seeing the animals. We feel lucky to have also learned a lot on our trip.

We stayed at the camp called Sentrim Mara, and that was equally as wonderful. Great food, great staff, really comfortable tents and beds. We're happy with our choice there too, as Polly provided enough descriptive information of different camps prior to booking that we made a good choice.

We highly recommend Mufasa Tours & Travels - they made our trip one that you only dream of. We are forever grateful, THANK YOU!!

Easy to contact, amazing tour guide, overall excellent experience.
5/5

Our tour guide and entire experience including lodging was absolutely perfect. We were lucky enough to get Nelson as our guide and he was the highlight of our entire trip to Africa. He was even more fun and entertaining than the animals on safari! He was nice, respectful, informative, and truly one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had for anything. Would definitely return to mufasa and if you’re lucky you will get Nelson!

The Best Safari Tour
5/5

Now that we have returned from our fantastic trip to Africa, I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know how much we enjoyed the safari. First, Joseph was an EXCELLENT driver/guide and took very good care of us. His knowledge about the animals, plants, etc. was top notch! We really enjoyed getting to know Joseph and spending the time with him in the vehicle. He went above and beyond trying to get us the best views of the animals, was always on time for us, was very accommodating to our needs. Joseph is truly a wonderful person and guide. Please let him know that I have several pictures of the Mama and baby Rhino if he wants them. Unfortunately the Mama Rhino was killed by lions the next day after we saw them.

The camps were AMAZING. The staff at the Ilkeliania Camp was wonderful. Everyone was so welcoming, very nice and the service was fantastic. Diane and Sarah were wonderful and took very good care of us. Our houseperson, Lemann made sure we had everything we needed in our tent and escorted us each time to our tent, along with a tribe member. He also made sure we had a hot water bottle in our bed each night - what a treat! The tent - GORGEOUS!!! Everything was very clean, spacious, beautiful view - I could stay there for a very long time :) The Cliff was equally as nice too, although we only stayed one night at The Cliff. The food, staff and accommodations at both locations were the best!

My husband and his sister were reluctant to go in the hot air balloon but I had convinced them that it would be safe and one of the best things they ever would do. I can't tell you how much they enjoyed the hot air balloon ride. The excitement they started feeling when the balloons were getting inflated, to getting in the basket, to lift off was incredible. Both of them told me they were so glad they did the hot air balloon ride. The brunch after the ride was phenomenal - we couldn't believe all the food, the table settings, the hospitality - what a way to end such a great experience!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We cannot say it enough. You made this experience so easy to select the camps, the tour, etc. and the service, starting with you, was the greatest. All of us enjoyed every minute of our experience and it was truly a lifetime experience. If we are blessed to come back to Kenya in the future, I will certainly reach out to you to book another great experience. Several of our friends are inquiring about going on safari and, of course I will pass along your information with very high recommendations.

Caroline - from the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Joseph and all the others, for this wonderful experience.

With a very grateful heart and lots of gratitude,
Margaret & Starlin

amazing Kenya safari with Mufasa Tours & Travels
5/5

We had an amazing 9 days safari with Mufasa, went to lake Bogoria, lake Nakuru, Maasai Mara ( 4 days ), lake Naivasha, Amboseli. Guide Charles is so experienced, always took us to right places in the right time. We saw wildebeest crossing Mara river twice, 5 dozens of lions, a dozen of cheetahs, a pair of leopards, white rhino family with baby, black rhinos, tons of elephants, buffalos, giraffes, gazelles, flamingos, ...etc. We highly recommend him. Joseph has been great to arrange our itinerary and the accommodations. We especially like Mara Ngenche on Mara River Bank, Mara Serena Safari Lodge in Mara triangle, Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park a lot. We felt very welcomed in Kenya, this is my 3rd time visiting Kenya and I 'm sure going back more. I highly recommend Mufasa.
