A dream come true
We chose Saunterland Africa Tours to do the safari of our honeymoon and it could not have been a more successful idea! With James (the owner ) we have a fantastic communication and he cares a lot that his clients are happy and their safaris adjust to their requests, everything was adapted to our ideas and budget, as soon as our guide Alex we only have words of thanks, thanks to him we were able to see the big 5 and everything was explained in our language (Spanish) he works hard to find all the animals and take you to beautiful places, he was also very polite and also funny, we will never forget you Alex thank you for all! Both are great professionals who care that your trip is perfect. The Saunterland team made our dream come true, they are 100% recommended and we will choose them again on our next safari. LUXURIOUS, PROFESSIONAL, FUN and EASY ON THE POCKETS!
I found out about Saunterland from a work colleague. I am originally from Kenya so done safari multiple times using other tour companies but I had some friends traveling in from the US for just 5 days and wanted to really make this memorable for them and Saunterland did not disappoint. James helped us finalize the booking so close to the actual travel date since we had to delay due to some visa issues. All this was done so effortlessly and his responses were prompt and informative. He provided me with several options and walked me through which he would recommend and why .
Our Safari tour guide was Ken and as someone who has done several of these , he is the best I have toured with so far. he was professional but relatable . He knew the answers to all the questions and has vast knowledge about the land and the animals . We also ran into several snafus and Ken handled everything like a pro. AND he did a tiktok video with us ... :)
In short , Our Mara trip was phenomenal and my best one yet!

Absolutely incredible service and safari
If you’re looking for a safari trip operator, we couldn’t recommend Saunterland highly enough. My husband and I are just back from a trip of a lifetime and there’s nothing we would have changed, absolutely perfect - and that’s a great part down to Saunterland’s dedicated help in organising and high level of service while with them.
Our trip, initially organised for the summer of 2020 was impacted by the COVID travel ban, but Saunterland were great with keeping in contact through out the 18 months, offering either a refund or rescheduled trip. Saunterland proved to be trustworthy and committed whatever our choice in the circumstances.
The attentive emails from our personal planner James, were always fast, thorough and responsive to our requests. He was able to advise if we had a question or needed local knowledge and was adaptable in our changing requirements.
Ken was our exclusive guide for our entire trip and we were so thankful for this - Ken studied tourism and Kenyan wildlife and carries now 15yrs of experience touring the national parks. His knowledge of the wildlife, where to find them - even the illusive animals and their behaviours were unparalleled. We found that Ken is well known for his expertise across the Masai Mara, our hotel manager and other guides advised he was particularly knowledgable and we were very fortunate to have him as our guide. We travelled far and wide across the plains and into the lesser-visited corners to watch every animal we could wish for. Ken is so familiar with every every twist and turn of the Mara, as well as the individual prides/herds/animals, you’re absolutely in safe hands. Moreover, Ken has a photographers eye, which means he will always set up in a position that gives you the best lighting, angle, view and background that he possibly can. His attention detail and ensuring our trip was nothing short of fabulous was from start to finish, from airport collection, driving Nairobi and the national park, at our camp site and on other excursions, plus Ken would always ensure any food we ate were free from my intolerances.
A truly 5 star trip, thank you Saunterland!!!!!

We came across Saunterland on the internet in March 2021 when we arrived in Nairobi. Reliable, affordable, friendly and expert guides, fully tailored itineraries... We just finished our major holiday this year - our 8th trip with them so far.
10 days taking in Samburu, Meru, Ol Pajeta, Nakuru and the Masai Mara. Utterly FABULOUS! Exceptional lodges, crazy sightings: lions feasting, leopards, cheetahs, even a serval cat hunting; tustling elephants, jousting white rhinos, necking giraffes, impala bucks clashing, a showdown between a hunting jackel and a defensive topi (the topi won, of course); browsing black rhinos, crocs chilling themselves in a waterfall, banded mongooses just chilling, hippos frisking in the rain; kudu, eland, gazelles (Grant's and Thompson), generuks, dik diks, zebras (Common and Grevy), waterbuck, steinbuck; dinners with bush babies gorging on safari ants and bats swooping in for moths and bugs; dung beetles, geckos, hyraxes... over 130 species of birds.
A photographer's paradise, an incredible privilege. Kenya's National Parks are truly a Wonder of the World!

Flexible, personalized, great communication, incredible experience.
The two of us stumbled upon Saunterland, and we are so happy for the trip that transpired. We only have pros to include in the review. Most importantly, James, the owner, was great at communicating. He ensured that we knew what was happening in the planning stages, and during the trip. We really felt well taken care of. Saunterland was very flexible and accommodating. During the safari, our guide, Patrick, couldn’t have been a better match. He was funny, helpful, knowledgeable, and a skilled off and on-road driver. Our trip was over four days. We spent two full days in Masai Mara, a full day at Lake Naivasha, and a day exploring Nairobi. We had so much fun, and we felt like the trip was exactly tailored to us.

Exceptional experience!
Pre-Arrival: We had a trip planned to Sint Maarten but had to cancel last minute. We decided to go to Kenya instead and got in touch with James from Saunterland Safaris a few days before arrival. James was able to plan our private safari and the booking process was very efficient.
Pickup & Transportation to and from Mara: Our safari guide Gibson met us in the hotel lobby in Nairobi at the mentioned time and was very courteous. He was knowledgeable and even before reaching Masai Mara he took every opportunity to show us relevant and cultural things about Kenya on our way to Mara. We opted for the Safari Land Cruiser and it was spacious, had sockets for phones and anything you need power for, and a pop-off roof which was excellent for game viewing. Alternately, you can ask James to help with tickets if you want to fly into Mara. This is a more comfortable and faster option and that way you can preserve energy for the actual game drives and your trip after/before the actual safari.
Game Drives: Masai Mara is a lovely place and a lot of safari enthusiasts probably know a lot about wildlife and animal behavior. This is where Gibson shone as an experienced safari guide, he was knowledgeable and knew where to find the game. He also educated us about animal behaviors that we were unaware of despite watching many documentaries on the subject and reading the books.
We saw a lot of giraffes, lions, hippos, cheetahs (the famous band of brothers that has appeared on many documentaries), leopards, and a baby leopard which was so lovely. The cherry on the cake was being able to see a Black Rhino mother with a baby Rhino. Gibson knew the hot spots to spot the less spotted game and has observed their behavior so he was able to time our drive and take us to an area where the sighting was much more likely. We had breakfast in the bush on one of the days.
After our Rhino spotting, we had a lovely bottle of wine that Gibson, our guide got us, overlooking the Mara Sunset which was breathtaking. The day our game drive was supposed to be early, Gibson already made sure our lunch boxes were ordered, keeping our dietary preferences in mind and it is these little touches that made it a memorable experience.
Accommodation: We stayed at Ashnil Mara and it was very nice. There is a range of accommodation choices available which James can help you plan. For us, Ashnil was very nice and comfortable and we are used to staying at good hotels (read Ritz-Carlton, St Regis, One&Only, etc). For the price, we were impressed with the service.
Overall: I recommend Saunteralnd for booking your safari experience without reservation. We will use them whenever we travel to the East Africa Region (they also have safaris in Tanzania and Uganda I believe). The price we paid was very reasonable and we think it was a great trip for two people (we paid less than 600$ per person) and honestly, the experience far exceeded what we paid. I am sure prices change with the season and may be different (we traveled in May 2021, so it wasn’t a busy time) We had one spare day in Nairobi and we booked Gibson again to show us around and got a photoshoot done. Highly recommend a day of photography which James can organize for you. The safari car rental for the whole day all-inclusive costs us $180 minus the photographer.

Just perfect from the first to the last step.
This was my very first direct booking in Kenia just per Mail/Whatsapp and I never regretted it. Just can recommend James, who was very patient and fair within these COVID-Days with postponing, replaning and rebooking. He always had good ideas and kept contact all the way long.
Simon was a very profound guide in Masai Mara - Thank you. His knowledge and driving skills were amazing. Communication was always perfect and friendly.
Btw, Saunterland was not the cheapest offer but we always felt safe and secure and we respect the service.

A great getaway from Nairobi! The Sopa lodge is picturesque and friendly with great service. Saunterland tours delivered a great guide, door to door service and good communication before, during and after the trip. We will definitely be using them again.
