Unfortunately cheating their customers
My wife and I travel a lot. Whenever possible we try to use local travel agencies to spend the money locally. This is what we did for our 2-week trip to Ruanda in January 2023. Mandrill African Safaris put together a great trip ticking all our boxes. Sam, our guide, was a very pleasant and helpful young man. He looked after us very well. It was all the more annoying and frustrating that we were told while doing our Gorilla trekking that the company could not draw money from its accounts due to some administrative hiccup and we should pay for petrol, park fees etc. as our guide could not draw the money to do so. We would be refunded at the end of the trip. Knowing Africa, we refused to do this but it quickly seemed as if our only chance to get back to Kigali and our flight home, was to pay an extra $500.- on top of our original fee of $11000.-. Needless to say that we never saw the money again and got nothing but a load of excuses. The whole thing is really sad as we would have liked to recommend Mandrill African Safaris to our friends due to the great tour we had otherwise. This way we can only say: BEWARE or be cheated!

We are so much sorry for what surely happened .but we thank our clients and his wife for choosing as a local Agency and we really appreciated your efforts and support..what our client said is true he paid full amounts of 11000$ and yes the money was enough to finish the trip . everything was going well from the start but when we reached towards the end of the trip just 1 day out of 15 days our visa card that were using in the field to pay up some fee parks and others was frozen after getting some other bookings the card could not work any more since trip was only remaining with 1 day to end I explained to our clients about what has happened to my card and he yes ok
Iwere on only remaining with only 500$ to end up the Safari and so our clients had to help us use the card instead of our since had some issues..we had agreed to pay his money back on 14 June and definitely we will .

Professional and caring - amazing experience!
I booked a very last minute (9pm the night before!) day trip from Kampala to Mburu National Park. Caleb who runs Mandrill African Safaris came back to me straight away to confirm the price and pick up time.
Mburu is a long drive from Kampala, so get ready for a lot of sitting. However, the drive is really interesting for someone like me who has never travelled to this region before. And Caleb made it interesting by pointing out details of the area and stopping for photo opportunities like the Equator, and an obligatory "Rolex". You also get to experience the "Ugandan Massage" (bumpy roads!).
Mburu itself was breathtaking, not just the wildlife but the scenery too. Caleb himself used to be a park ranger at Mburu so was extremely knowledgeable, alongside Diana the ranger who accompanied us on the boat ride and game drive. You will definitely see lots of animals - baboons, hippos, crocodiles, zebra, giraffes, warthogs (Pumba!), antelope, water buffalo, to name just a few!
While this was meant to be a day trip, it was getting dark, so Caleb arranged an overnight stay (at no extra charge), and a very early drive back to Kampala (5am start as I had to be back for a work commitment). The accommodation is basic but more than adequate for a few hours sleep in the jungle.
Thank you to Caleb and the team at Mandrill African Safaris for making this such a special and memorable visit for my first time in Uganda!
